What is wrong with being ''European''?
I know some Americans associate Europe with socialism but I did not know that belief is so common among ordinary Americans. Maybe I should not be surprised: many Europeans associate the United States with 'cowboy capitalism' and 'fat rednecks'. I guess we are both ignorant.

This is really scary. Banning books is a crime against free speach and should never be permitted. Sometimes the mentality of the Evangelicals is very similar to that of the Taliban. Very scary.
Disappointment? 8:03pm on 07 Sep 2008 The post-Convention dust has settled and again the race is tied. The debates will determine the outcome of the election.
Can anyone tell me something about Palin's positions on foreign policy? I can't find anything on the internet.
'Events dear boy, events!' 2:01pm on 01 Sep 2008 Some Evangelical Christians prayed for rain to disturb the Democrat Convention. Seems to me these prayers have turned against them. Gustav is a disaster for the Republicans because it will remind everybody to Katrina and how the Bush administration failed to handle the crisis. To sad for the Republicans God punished them during such an important Convention.
A serious summit 1:45pm on 01 Sep 2008 The European Union won't and never will agree on sanctions against Russia. Economical cooperation is not a problem because we have the helping hand of capitalism and the principles of the free-market. Political cooperation is more difficult to accomplish because we actually have to agree on something. This will never happen because we are to divided on foreign policy. The foreign policy of the European Union is a joke.
A clever performance 7:08pm on 29 Aug 2008 Sarah Palin is a good choice, well chosen John McCain. Palin can help him to win over more Evangelicals and people of the Mountain States (Nevada, Montana and Colorado). However, I don't believe she will win over a lot of Hillary supporters. Sarah Palin is to conservative on issues like abortion and gun rights to win the Clintonite vote. Picking Palin as Veep could also undermine John McCain's argument Barack Obama is to inexpierenced to be President. Palin has only 2 years of experience as Governer of small, and in national politics unimportant, Alaska.
Georgia crisis tests EU 8:43pm on 27 Aug 2008 Named-Erion,

''It is good that Poland unlike most of Europe has the guts to stand up to Russia, and it is good that Poland is standing up for small democracies such as Georgia. Poland is a country that knows what it means to be attacked by big dictatorial neighbours and what kind of destraction and human suffering can bring the ignoring of this issues by the big democracies.''

The current tensions between The West and Russia will not be resolved by having the 'guts' for it but by having the strongest nerves. We have won Kosovo and the Baltics but the second round went to Russia. We all agree we can't afford losing another round (Ukraine). However, we don't know what to do next. Should we choose the passive or aggresive approach? Altough I agree with you we should choose the more aggresive approach we should not offend Russia that much it could lead to war. The United States nor Europe is capable of fighting a war with Russia right now. The best option untill we agree on a joint approach towards Russia is, in my opinion, to strengten our ties with Ukraine and Moldova.
Georgia crisis tests EU 6:05pm on 27 Aug 2008 What the European Union could accomplish regarding the Georgia-Russia crisis? We can't accomplish anything because we are to divided. France, Germany, Italy, Austria and Greece do not support a tougher approach on Russia while the Baltics, Britain, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic and Holland support a tougher approach (I'm not familar with the positions of the remaining European Union countries). It seems to me the European Union has accomplished just a War of Words.

France and Germany, not Europe, opposed admitting Georgia to NATO because they need Russian oil and gas. Do you believe Russia wouldn't have invaded Georgia if Georgia had been admitted to NATO? The United States needs Russia on issues like North Korea and Iran. Russia would have invaded Georgia and America nor Europe could have done anything against it.

Europe needs America and America needs Europe (see my previous post, post 105). Europe and America are friends and friends must accept they can't always agree. Maybe you should visit Europe or read a book about Europe. Wikipedia is not the right place to learn something about the Grant Old Continent.

It seems to me you have just one hobby: insulting people who don't agree with you. Did you know 66% of all FDI in the States is European and 75% of all FDI in Europe is American. The Europeans generate millions of American jobs and the Americans generate millions of European jobs. Europe needs America and America needs Europe if you like it or not. Not that it will make any difference. You will probably not agree with me and continue pointing out how 'weak' Europe is.
