Recession Road: Leeming Bar 12:08pm on 16 Sep 2009 I've used Leeming Bar Services a few times. With it being independent it offers a bit more variety compared with the Chain brands such as Moto and Welcome Break.

The Highways Agency wont guarantee the owners of Leeming services a service station on the proposed A1(M) Motorway. New Motorway Service Areas (MSAs) are subject to "normal" planning and development processes. It's more likely that the larger chains will have more resources to put through such an application. It's looking bleak for the independent service areas.

It's a shame, we'll have to put up with the run-of-the-mill eg. Moto and Welcome Break's All-Day breakfasts on the new motorway.

Maybe it's a subconscious thing where he saw the old manifestation of the English disease in the form of European domination by English clubs by winning trophies and exportation of hooliganism.

Maybe subconsciously he feels English domination is somehow wrong and is out to stop it in all forms. A "Je ne sais quoi" factor. Maybe it goes all the way back to the Heysel days.
