An elusive surge 4:40pm on 04 Nov 2008 I see that the media, to their shame, are still busily hyping up this non-existent McCain 'comeback'. Oh, I'm going to have so much fun at the pundits' expense when those results come rolling in and a comprehensive victory for Obama becomes clear as day.

Obama 364-174. (52-45 in the popular vote).

Dems 58-42 in the Senate.
Testing the waters 5:01pm on 31 Jul 2008 I have to say that the hypocrisy of the Brownites astounds me. Disloyalty? And of course, Gordon Brown and his minions like Nick Brown and Ed Balls never did anything to undermine Tony Blair's leadership when he was Prime Minister, did they? But now that their lord and master's getting a taste of his own medicine, they can't stop squealing like stuck pigs.

Also, it's a bit rich for life members of the awkward squad like Marshall-Andrews and Geraldine Smith (nonentities in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones, Ms. Smith) to come out and start whining about integrity. Again, I can't recall either of these two heavyweight giants of British politics ever once condemning the blatant efforts by Brown and his munchkins to undermine Tony Blair's leadership for the better part of ten years.

So, Miliband's ambitious to be Prime Minister? How dare he? Doesn't he know that only Gordon Brown has the God-given right to reside at Number 10? Personally, I think that wanting to lead the Labour Party when it's in such a hole displays, if anything, a profound lack of ambition. It's a bit like staging a mutiny aboard the Titanic just as the iceberg starts to loom off the starboard bow.
Westminster rumours 1:41pm on 12 Jun 2008 Purpledogzzz, when someone misuses the term fascism in such a childish, cavalier manner, it usually means one of two things: either they don't have much of an argument; or they're some sort of chippy adolscent who's just been grounded by their parents. I haven't decided which category you fall into yet.

Perhaps you should go and look up the horrors committed by authentic fascism in Nazi Germany before you continue to deluge this message board with your juvenile hysteria and sloganising.
Westminster rumours 1:35pm on 12 Jun 2008 I'm afraid I can't agree with TAG Griffin's assessment. Even if Davis is returned at the by-election by an increased majority (which will certainly happen given the fact that the Lib Dems are abstaining), he doesn't have the right to claim that as an endorsement for repealing the 42 day detention limit. Most people will be voting on general issues rather than this particular one. This strikes me as an utterly futile gesture which, unfortunately, won't have the slightest effect on the government's anti-terrorism policy.

I'm as dead against the 42 day detention period as anyone else, but to talk in such terms as "totalitarian fascism" is frankly ludicrous. It's also a complete insult to the victims of real facism, many of whom are still alive.
TV moment of truth 7:28pm on 07 May 2008 What's that strange gargling sound? It's the fat lady practicing her scales. Yes, Justin's absolutely right; it's all over bar the shouting. Hillary's about as sound an investment as Northern Rock right now. (Though at least their investors got something in return for their money). Poetic justice, really when one considers the truly deplorable way in which the Clinton campaign has been run. From the insidious racism which has tried to portray Obama as some sort of latter-day Malcolm X to the pathetic, cheap-jack populism of the gas tax holiday, Hillary has become increasingly deserving of contempt. Oh, and not forgetting her threats to "obliterate" Iran (copyright R.Cheney); comments which frankly beggar belief in an adult politician.

Sorry, Hillary, but not even Robert Mugabe could hand you those remaining super delegate votes on a silver platter. (Not gold, because that would be elitist).

By the way, what about Senator Blanche Lincoln as Obama's running mate? A white, Southern woman, quite conservative, could be an interesting choice.
