Outbreak control 4:38pm on 18 Jun 2008 After a trip to the Vale earlier this year and after catching an infection ( Not C Diff or MRSA) I would say its down the the staff being completely demoralised and a severe lack of cleaners. I did not see one cleaner while I was undergoing treatment at the Vale.

The staff need greater support and should not be made to feel like the ugly stepchild as NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde frequently makes them feel like.

Once again you think it was your proposals I was writing about it was the SNP's (my party's) proposals I was referring to. I feel that yours are too knee jerk to ever work and your attitude leaves a lot to be desired. Most of those causing hassle on streets are under 18 so why demonise those who drink legally and don't cause problems? And lets not forget that Scotland has always had a problem with alcohol the problem has always been there and I am sure many of those here drank before they were of age. It doesn't make it right but it still happened and will do in the future. The only weapon we have is education starting from an earlier age and make major changes in order to adopt a more continental attitude to alcohol

With more effective policing and harsher fines to both off-licenses that knowingly sell drink to those under-age and those older who buy drink on the behalf of minors.

I do not believe you have to punish the majority to stamp out the problematic minority all that does is breed anger and resentment and as you can see its already doing a good job of that on these boards .

I find it aggravating that the SNP think I am responsible enough at 20 years old to be a branch secretary and a constituency association organiser but I am not responsible enough to watch my alcohol intake. For the record I am near enough tee-total thanks to my parents educating me that drink was not a liquid to abuse but I do like a drink once in a blue moon.

As for my proposals don't worry I will be taking them to conference this October.

I was not referring to any proposal you made because obviously you didn't make one, the SNP did regarding binge drinking. Please leave your paranoia at home please.

I am a SNP activist and I find this proposal to be a bit thick and missing the point entirely.

Are we really going to campaign for the voting age to be reduced to 16 but say 18-21 year olds cannot buy drink? Most of those causing trouble are underage anyway so this ban will just mean they will turn to other ways to get their kicks.

Scotland has always had a drink problem and while I would say we would be better off trying to raise the cost of booze it would not work entirely.

We need to start from the ground up and start working on a more continental attitude to booze and that starts with the parents and early school years education.

Obeying the law? 4:48pm on 03 Jun 2008 Unfortunately I have spoken to Ms Baillie first time was when I was still in high school and let me assure you she was as condescending back then as she is now when I try to find out whether is is going to do anything about the high suicide rate in the area and lack of mental care facilities. I have also spoken to her regarding Faslane where I work as she insisted 15,000 jobs would go if the SNP were elected. Surprisingly they haven't disappeared over night.

Jackie Baillie is a woman that preys on her constituents fears as could be witnessed as she stood at the gates of Faslane telling workers they were all doomed unless they voted for her.

I am one of Ms Baillie constituents and despite many phone calls and letters to her have never had her come up with anything except the usual drivel. Sorry if I cannot sing her praises as you seem intent to do as I have never seen her do any good except for this one bill in nearly 10 years of being elected.

I am a SNP supporter and I come from a town that has seen many drug related deaths and I have lost some good friends to drugs as well as family members.

The problem with discussing drugs is because it is a subject that everyone is uncomfortable with. No parent wants to accept the thought that their child could be smoking hash or onto even harder drug. It doesn't help that drugs are treated so casually by parts of the media and entertainment sources.

Even in schools where some drug education is given the whole exercise is treated as a joke by pupils and staff alike. Kids believe they can't get addicted or believe they can quit when they want to.

Dealing with drugs is not just something political parties have to deal with because as with alcohol Scotland's drug problem is a cultural problem.

I am sorry to hear about your experience at the Scottish Graduates fair, and you and your daughter should not have been turned away as you were as the SNP stand was to encourage all students regardless of origin to stay in Scotland and work.

If you wish I can make some inquiries as to what went wrong and make sure your daughter is given the advice and reassurance she deserves.

As a 20 year old full time worker and part time student I assure you the SNP does care about the opportunities for young people and retaining the best minds for Scotland with the aim of laying the groundwork for a more prosperous nation.
Sony on the way back? 11:18am on 07 May 2008 The Playstation brand was credited with opening up a more mainstream gaming market with more casual gamers. People expect it to to keep that up. I am big on my games but the Xbox and its successor have not really appealed to me once I started to look at the games on offer. Far too many generic FPS and RPG games I like both but I want variety too and Microsoft failed to secure that with developers.

Sony on the other hand did manage it not so well this time the Wii stole everyones thunder but despite my anger with Sony I am sure they will woo developers again despite high developer kit costs and being rather snotty at the beginning of the current next gen war towards the developers and saying they only wanted to "work with the big three"
Women and technology 3:48pm on 06 May 2008 I have always been considered a bit of a geek by girl standards always into computers, gadgets games etc. All seen as traditionally male areas but it is not a problem there are more and more women starting to work in traditional male occupations including maths, engineering. Its a slow process breaking down gender barriers but we have to remember not everyone wants to do certain jobs as a career you can't force girls into being a Network engineer!
