Government unlikely to fall - yet 6:09pm on 24 Aug 2009 The Opposition at Holyrood have brass necks. Most of them are List MSP's - that is, not elected. For them now to condemn Kenny Macaskill is pure hypocracy. The Americans also have brass necks ( although everyone already knows this!). How dare they dictate to us! They who resort to torture to extract " confessions"; who keep folk on Death Row for twenty years or more, before executing them. Barbaric!. But then, they have always been loud-mouthed, holier-than-though, do as we sayers. If you don't believe me, try working with them!!
Alan Duncan apology 08:33am on 13 Aug 2009 If you are sick to death with Politics and Politicians, why not seek solace in voting for the only Party that seems to be gaining strength with each passing Election? I refer of course to the Apathy Party. Suppose no one voted for anyone?. The imagination soars. Former MP's would lose their cushy, lucrative jobs; the more astute among them swiftly selling off their London pads and legging it for Brazil, while the dullards formed an endless queue to sign on for Job Seekers Allowance. The Houses of Parliament could be converted into a prison to relieve the overcrowding in our jails, and maybe Alan Sugar could run England at a profit. Lakshmi Mittal could even start eyeing up Buckingham Palace!! Come to think of it, a Vote is a very powerful instrument.
They've got what it takes 07:52am on 18 Apr 2009 A very inappropriate slogan for the SNP Government They haven't got LIT. They chickened out before the matter had even come before Parliament. They haven't done other things they said they would do in their Manifesto. Come to think of it, they haven't achieved much since they were elected. Their Conferencre Agenda is bland. Like them, it lacks guts.

Crossing borders 07:40am on 24 Mar 2009 The idiotic idea of two delegations to China shows how necessary it now is to have that referendum on Independence For heavens sake, let's get it over and done with If the result is that we go it alone, then Westminster will have to lump it, and bow out of matters that affect only us. I have said, elsewhere, that if the Scottish Secretary stil believes that he so loves Scotland that he cannot let us go, then he should heed the words of the old song.

'Always trust the voters' 09:08am on 12 Mar 2009 With the Lib Dems seemingly obsessed with Tax matters, it will be interesting to see what they do about the Governments proposed increase in the price of alcohol ( a Tax by any other name!). Another daft idea by the SNP. Having ditched their flagship policy of a LIT, they are now seeking to regain some credibility by latching on to the alcohol bandwagon. What will they do about the proposal by a doctor that chocolate chould be taxed?. An obesity tax.
Fortunately, Tax matters are reserved to Westminster, so Alex Salmond will have to wind in his short neck. I hope he does it soon.
'A good day for Mr Gray' 08:34am on 08 Mar 2009 Labour had their chance in Government, along with the Lib Dems - and fluffed it. They did nothing for us. I see that the Scottish Secretary ( do we need one?), will to-day say that Westminster so loves Scotland that they need to cling on to it. Reminds me of the old song

Not the last word 08:27am on 05 Mar 2009 Having ditched their flagship policy of introducing a LIT, hw can anyone ever again trust them?. By doing so, they have not only lost the next Election; but lost any hope of gaining Independence for Scotland
Just follow the money 07:09am on 09 Feb 2009 Yes, print money. Lots of it. Millions in fact.Scrap pension means testing. Give all pensioners a decent pension that will relieve the indignity of begging for enough money to keep warm, or to eat a decent meal. Fat Cat bankers getting millions in bonuses, while pensioners scrape a living is unacceptable in this day and age. Would the Government listen?. Not on your life!!
The only answer is not to vote for any party at the next general Election. That would put them in a tizzy!!
Choose your strategy 09:06am on 29 Jan 2009 The Government should tell the Opposition where to put itself, stop playing games with Scotland's future, and call an Election. With a big majority, a new SNP Government would be able to carry on helping the people of Scotland without the pathetic bleating by Lib Dems, Greens, Labour and the dreaded Conservatives.
