Hating teenagers... 2:45pm on 20 May 2008 I agree with the comments of N-Stewart (I’m 17 too). It's largely the lack of respect that gets on my nerves. The glaring looks from old people, judging us because we're not like them. Or the look of surprise when I offer a seat on the bus or hold the door open for someone.

Teenagers have got a bad reputation in the media, misinforming larger numbers of people about the majority of us. However, I do admit there are some problems with teenagers drunk on the street and so forth. I believe this is a direct result of a lack of things to do for teenagers. We are excluded from nightclubs for not being old enough, and many of us have a lack of privacy in the household.

Consequently, there are groups of teenagers that end up with nowhere but the street to hang out on. Why aren't there more nightclubs for under 18s? I mean, it's not like it's a niche market or anything.

I'm fed up of the common misconceptions about teenagers, any other negative perception of a social group would be classed as discrimination. What other stereotypes will the media portray? All old people are deaf and incontinent? All kids raised with separate parents grow up badly?

It has to be the end of this soon, and to be frank, the BBC is just as guilty of it as any other media source. Neutrality my eye.
Comments on changes 11:57am on 22 Apr 2008 I completely agree with the comments made by sanbikinoraion—your whole post smacks of superiority and smugness. It seems you haven’t actually trawled through the hundreds of comments and have merely looked at how many there are.

It seems you have absorbed none of the criticism, when there seems to be a substantial amount of it.

An yes, many of the commenters here are correct, merely giving the channel a visual update will not make it appeal to younger viewers. The way we consume our news is changing—and the younger are usually some of the first to jump on the bandwagon, i.e. we are moving away from the TV and other “traditional” forms of media.

And finally, I can’t actually look at the new titles. They hurt my eyes.
New News 9:20pm on 21 Apr 2008 To be honest, this feels like a step backwards in terms of evolution of the graphic style. I feel almost transplanted back to the early 2000s.

I liked the direction that the previous style was going in, finally moving away from Gill Sans and promo boxes slapped on here and there in promos.

Quite frankly, the sooner BBC News reverts to its previous graphic style, the better. What a poorly led, ill-made, unnecessary and no doubt ridiculously expensive decision.
