No quick sale of RBS and Lloyds 12:50pm on 13 Jul 2009 This story has a long way yet to run it's course. Ever since the near collapse of the financial system last September, the gov'ts of the banking-led economies have been frantically, desperately trying to plug the holes of a sinking ship.

The insurmountable debt-pile accrued in the last 10 years has not been addressed. As a nation slipping deeper into recession/depression, the UK will not be able to service it's DEBT, let alone begin to pay off the principle.

These greedy (and now impotent in the face of what their own hubris has wrought) bankers will need many more bailouts in due course (what with waves of US Alt-A options due to expire in the next two years - another fantastic investment our banks are stuffed to the gunnels with).

I just don't know where it's going to end - there are no adults in the respective gov'ts to stand up and tell us how it is and the changes we need to make to stop it all falling apart.
Measuring the global crunch 5:45pm on 29 Apr 2009 It's going to take years for the mass of the Great British Public to awaken to the fact that they have been/will continue to be swindled by the banking institutions. I can't wait to see the reaction once they do - if the current banking system lasts that long.

When is a journalist amongst you going to grow some balls and tell it as it is? I guess those that tell the truth fear being branded a terrorist. It's all about fear these days.

Are you actually in the pay of the gov't, Robert? Do they pay you to write soothing words to keep the masses calm? Either that, or you've lost your way in the midst of this crisis. Maybe this suckers rally of the last two weeks has fooled you into a happy place where everything is getting back to normal.

We are about to undergo a fundamental shift in the way we lead our lives. This is just the start. The banks are not alright. Our entire financial system is bankrupt. Creating more debt is not going to fix it. Every day our self-serving gov't delays and bails out, prolongs and deepens the crisis.

I am loathe to say it, but our country needs a strong leader to step forward and tell it like it is - and to start the long, slow painful process of building credibility for the UK again.

Nothing will change - no heads will roll, the same broken financial system that has been abused by the people that still control it will carry on - to be abused once again - what is the point of all this bread and circuses? Where's the change? This is just boring now.
Rock revival 09:50am on 23 Feb 2009 The political and banking elite will do anything to retain their power. Trouble is, they've so overcooked the system, they now have absolutely no idea how to fix it - it's snowballed completely out of their hands.

We really should all be making plans for what happens if we wake tomorrow and money has no value.
