Old habits (including recording companies not paying the artists) die hard, don't they?

The record giants are quick to squish American teenagers for downloading tracks from file sharing services, and yet VERY slow at finding people they owe royalties to.

As a music lover I've been watching them carefully for the last ten years, predicting their downfall.

They are just a pack of greedy mega corps, that's all. They are not interested in music, artists or even the customers. Just money.

As for Spotify, and services like it, they are ok for the rare times when I can't spin my vinyl records on a proper hi-fi and listen to that booming sound thingy - once known as BASS.

Actually, yes, I have suffered a V980, and like all the other Motorola phones I have owned it proved difficult to navigate and unreliable.

This is the point you've missed, because everyone now 'needs' a mobile they MUST be very easy to use.

Every phone I have tried has an un-intuitive and impenetrable OS. And yes, I've had Nokias and Blackberries and Sonys...all of them awful in comparison.

This is where the iPhone scores, everything is laid out so well, it really is child's play.

And Windows Mobile? I don't think Apple will be the least bit worried by anything built on the rickety an totally INSECURE Win OS.

Frankly, Apple set the benchmark way ahead of the field, and now the rest are all playing catch up.

Or is it just like the Windows users who decry Macs and OS X and yet, oddly, have never, ever used one?
And OS X is not a Linux copy, it is based on Unix (as is Linux!). OS X is far more user friendly than any other OS I've ever used or seen (and I've been using them since 1978).
Even my technophobic partner can use an iPhone (and a Mac).
Touch screens may have been around before, but none did it quite like an iPhone.
I've had a mobile phone since the first Motorola Bricks (the massive one's with a carry handle) and not a single one has ever satisfied me - until I got an iPhone - which just works (ok, it isn't perfect, yet).
And as for cameras, it's a phone, right? I have an SLR digital camera for taking pictures and if I just need a quick snap of something when I am out and about (very rare) the iPhone will do.

It just isn't working and never will do.

I am not saying drugs are right and suggesting people take them.

But how can it be right to prohibit one intoxicant and to allow others, like alcohol which causes HUGE social and financial strain on society, to flourish?

Bring it out into the open.

Give people more information without hysteria.

Tax sales to fund research and alternative activities for youngsters - like sound studios, workshops and positive things to keep them occupied and happy.

Take millions of pounds away from organised crime and stop the hundreds, perhaps thousands of drug related deaths caused by murder, rather than as a direct result of the drug itself.

And why not deny the Taliban the major source their funding by taking control of Heroin?
Daniels sacrifices bonus 09:15am on 11 Feb 2009 Am I the only one who thinks that our money would have been better spent on infrastructure projects, a people's bank, investing in manufacturing, schools, hospitals and other long term capital projects.

We've been sold this story that the banks 'can't be allowed to fail'.

I fully realise that the world of finance is a devilishly complex thing, but why foot this bill. Why not let them crash and buy them in a fire sale for next to nothing. Re-employ the ground staff (sack the suits) and run the bank for the all the people, not for five or six people.

It's all sounding dangerously like capitalism has failed us all, again, doesn't it?
Daniels sacrifices bonus 09:12am on 11 Feb 2009 Giving up a bonus when you're salary, and bonuses, have been extremely high for several years means nothing.

Especially if you have several other 'jobs' and piles of cash in the bank.

And, given that these men all do have piles of cash around (you will NEVER convince me they haven't) they aren't exactly going to go hungry are they. After all, think of all the really cheap property they can now buy with that cash. All they have to do is buy up a few streets, rent them to the people they've caused to be thrown out of their own homes, and wait for values to rise again while collecting the rent.

Making money is easy when you already have it.

Perhaps Gordo would like to employ me as a consultant. I understand the monthly pay is several times more than I earn in a year.

I repeated my message in 2006. In Jan 2007 I was convinced it was right on the doorstep so I sold my only two Buy-To-Lets, at a decent profit.

Literally days after the second sold and the money hit my account the Northern Rock thing kicked off.

I am an artist and a writer. I have never been to college and don't have a university degree.

So how come I spotted what was blatantly obvious and yet these million-pound fools couldn't?

I'll tell you why, they ALL looked the other way - in the direction of those ridiculous, immoral and, it has subsequently been proved, disastrous bonuses.

Tellsa, you say you can't get on the housing market because of prices in the South and yet you, and millions like you, refuse to move to a place where house prices are more reasonable.

Here in Lincoln you can still buy a 20 room Victorian town house for under 300K and a 3 bed terrace for 90K.

The employment market is buoyant, in fact it's tough for employers up here to find decent staff.

What's more people here are generally very friendly, they still know how to say 'please', 'thank you' and 'hello' - even to people they haven't met before.

I moved to Lincoln from Surrey 15 years ago just so I could afford to buy a proper house, instead of a rabbit hutch. I can't ever see myself moving back to the South which I have come to loath.

So why do you all stay put in the over-crowded, rude and unfriendly South when the answer to your problems probably lies further North?

Maybe this mess isn't all the bank's fault? Perhaps some of us are complicit because of our own actions, or inactions.

If a few more people, and especially businesses and Government departments, were to loosen their obsession with being in London and the South East, then perhaps the housing market would equal out a little, if not a lot?
