The Hell-co 08:28am on 06 Oct 2009 The Petitions Committee is meeting today and will discuss a petition to amend Section 6 of the 1993 Welsh Language Act so that members of parliament are included under the definition of public authorities and wil, have to publish publicly available correspondence bilingually. If they agree hopefully Alun Ffred can be persuaded to include the provision in the new LCO.

So who exactly elected Abraham Lincoln those who voted, or was it all the people?
What do you suggest ? That democracy is by those who get the least votes+ those that can't be bothered to vote...now that's what I really call sophistry!!

I have a couple of questions to ask Nick Ainger:
1. When the Government/BOE bailed out the banks in the Autumn to the tune of £37 Billion, why did they not find out about the other toxic loans?...who lends without an audit? Did they not know when they bailed RBS out that the same company was going to declare losses of £28 bn?
2. The Government banned the use of 'short selling' in financial institutions when the banks crashed in the autumn, last Thursday they lifted the ban, on Friday Barclays lose 25% of their value and today RBS and the new Lloyds Group shares go into freefall.

Not the type of performance one would expect from a competent government...any surprise the Tories are 14% ahead in the polls.
And in 2009 ... 3:36pm on 01 Jan 2009 Betsan, sorry but this blog has lost its appeal to me, I thought the purpose of this blog was to have a sensible debate about politics in Wales and not a propaganda mouthpiece for the Monmouthshire Muppets. Anyway back to Vaughan's blog where we can can have a sensible debate in Welsh, which the Monmouthshire Muppets can't participate in because they are too lazy and arrogant to learn their country's language.

The latest one come to my attention is the Torfaen move to dispense with the Gwent Tertiary College, and turn it into another Cymraeg unit.

And why is that I wonder it must that 2% left in Torfaen who want Welsh education, but you know the demand is much higher than that. Its called choice which is smothing you don't get if there is no EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, clearly those people of Torfaen who CHOSE to educate their children through the medium of Welsh didn't have the CHOICE until Gwent Tertiary College was turned into (hopefully) a Welsh school. Is that clear enough to the Welsh apologists on this site...as one would say in Eire, ejiits!!
60% v 40% 09:15am on 09 Dec 2008 I think this is a great appointment especially for Plaid Cymru, Kirsty despite being a great looker and snappy dresser is very divisive and from I understand she speaks her mind. She has been described as capable of starting a fight in an empty room. Just can't see her in a coalition somehow...and I can't see the Lib Dems winning anymore seats on Kirsty's coattails!

Is that like "tyranny of the majority"? Try reading Dahl, John Stuart Mill and Lijphart else what you are proposing is similar to Northern Ireland from 1921 onwards.
I'll have what he's having 5:05pm on 13 Nov 2008 This LCO is not worth dying in a ditch for...what will it achieve? Wrexham Council have sold 2 houses this year out of a total stock of 11,000+ and I presume other local authorities have similar figures...so what's the big deal. What is needed is for the Welsh Assembly to allow local authorities in Wales to enter into arms length Local Housing Companies with the private sector as what they are doing in England who incidentally are accessing loads of money for that purpose. Why build new houses whilst developers have new properties that they can't dispose of them. There are private developers who are keen on setting up RSL's but can't get WAG support. Secondly, if we need more houses why doesn't WAG release some of its land for affordable housing, one of their sites in Wrexham Town Centre has been lying derelict for years instead of expecting Local Authorities to sell their land for affordable housing at a discount. WAG need to be innovative regarding affordable housing and abolishing the right to buy will not make a blind bit of difference to the housing shortage so let's bin this LCO and get on with doing something that will make a difference. As you can tell ...a subject close to my heart!!
Chill! 6:39pm on 08 Nov 2008 Why can't Council's suspend the right to buy, allowing a sell off in the first place resulted in the current shortage. Stonemason seems to forget we are no longer in the Thatcher era, there is a move to the left everywhere to counteract the chaos of the unregulated markets. George W Bush...nationalising banks and financial institutions must mean the very happy death of Regan's (& Thatcher's) Conservative revolution.
