the web is... too good for us? 5:03pm on 10 Jul 2009 The beauty of the web is the (illusion) of the infinite journey opened up to us by the hyperlink.
No story is finished, no full stop is reached. You can hop and hop and hop, going deeper and deeper like Alice down the rabbit hole.

But it is an illusion because all to often governments, companies, individuals want that journey to be curtailed, re-directed, stopped, reversed.

And yet we remain so passionate about the web because we know the possibility of the endless journey remains.

I am so looking forward to this programme and engaging with the programme makers in a new and original way, one in keeping with the spirit of the web.

Xbox Live gets truly social 8:38pm on 01 Jun 2009 @prototype1981 A revolution in gaming? We'll see. Connecting to tens of millions of people and making gaming part of the wider social media world is much more interesting in my opinion.

And as to Spielberg.... Indy 4 anyone?

The problem is wake from sleep. A short sleep is often fine. But a long sleep is a problem. I suspect it's the DCHP giving me a new IP.

I've seen a few work arounds but they look risky.

But it's yet another service - with only a handful of compliant NAS drive.

There are so many flavours to NAS, not all of them friendly to each other, that makes life harder than it needs to be.

One small point.

Feel free to do a Google site search and see how many times Twitter has been mentioned in the Guardian, NYTimes, Times Online and BBC News.

To save you the trouble: 1,700, 9,800, 4,100 and 450.

Can Xbox 360 fulfil its multimedia ambitions? 5:12pm on 26 Feb 2009 @CompactDistance I think that's partly it. But remember adding quality services have brand value, as well as simplicty implications.
Look at Virgin Media - they have added iPlayer.

For Xbox it is more about control I think - plus the fact Microsoft don't work at the same speed as the iPlayer team who are rolling out new features and implementation at breakneck speed.

Flash is driving browser based games - even if its involvement in QuakeLive is not clear cut.

In any case, Flash, like ActiveX - these are all plug-ins that essentially allow executables to run in a browser windows.

And Flash is the daddy of all those plug-ins.

QuakeLive is really just the jumping off point for the piece - even if it's not a particularly good jumping off point.
