A day in the life of the Head of BBC HD 9:34pm on 08 Nov 2009 I do wonder what TVs the BBC HD crew are watching their own output on. Small LCDs (i.e 40 inch or less) from 12+ feet away? I would probably agree you would not see the problem on such a setup. Try watching on a full HD 50+ inch plasma from 8 feet away, then tell me there is no problem. You will clearly see their is.
Orange's 'unlimited' iPhone 6:24pm on 03 Nov 2009 I doubt orange will block you for using things not on orange world. I unlocked and flashed a custom ROM to my Touch HD within a few days of getting it (its on orange) and i use it for all sorts of internet services. Ive never even been to orangeworld. I also use Wifi tethering on it with my Laptop (it can act as a wifi router, sharing its connection), but its not been a problem so far.
Orange's 'unlimited' iPhone 4:50pm on 03 Nov 2009 This is actually pretty good for orange, it was 250MB last year and 500MB earlier this year.
It was annoying that my last phone (HTC Touch HD) was Orange exclusive for a good while. Thankfully my next phone (the extremely powerful Touch HD2) is not orange exclusive.
24 hours with Ubuntu 5:59pm on 23 Oct 2009 Ubuntu is ok, ive tried it on my netbook, but a few things didn't work and i had to go back to Windows.
I think its ok for such devices, i dont need Windows power or compatibility on a netbook, but its no good (for me) as a desktop OS. For a start i use my PC as an HTPC with Blu-ray capability. Linux Blu-ray is a no go really. Its possible in a round about sort of way, but you cant just put in a disc and have it play immediately.

Gaming is still a long way behind windows as well.

Sure there is Wine, but why fake it? You may as well just use real Windows and save yourself the bother.

For me Linux is second behind Windows, but ahead of MacOS. If you really have to be different and dont mind the limitations of not using Windows then at least dont pay extra for the privilege, that would be stupid.
A week with Windows 12:43pm on 21 Oct 2009 Vista was a bit slow and cumbersome, but 7 is great. I also like to organise my PC my way, all my devices in fact, which is why i hate apple so much, especially its portable and mobile devices. 7 seems better than Vista for that and its much quicker on both my Quad core desktop and netbook.
I did like XP, but recently had to put XP back on my netbook (dual booting 7), to get a bizarre peice of hardware to work, and i was shocked how awful it was. I just dont like it any more.
Apple's 'Big Brother' sequel 12:47pm on 30 Sep 2009 Its about time someone took Apple down a peg or two on this. Apples current policies with regard to general openness, DRM and app store submissions are frankly much less consumer friendly than pretty much anyone elses have ever been.

By the way BBC much coverage has been given to the iPhone, how about the new HTC HD2, the most powerfull mobile phone yet launched with the new Windows mobile 6.5 and 1Ghz snapdragon processor? No, thought not..
Picture Quality on BBC HD: a response 8:54pm on 20 Sep 2009 I dont find BBC HD to be all that bad, i wonder how much of peoples experience is to do with the known variability of the Sky HD box types and the various FreeSat HD appliances. In my experience Sky HD boxes show great variability, and not consistently, between different channels.
Apple: All sizzle and no steak 2:55pm on 11 Sep 2009 Im refering to the whole Apple experience from top spec mac to cheapest iPod. No other company has products so dependant on each other and so controlled. Microsoft? Windows is open in the sense that pretty much everything works with it and, critically(and this is the key point), is allowed to. Window mobile is totally free, you can do anything you like to it pretty much.

Im totally uninterested or impressed by the apple experience as such i remain free from their products and choose other companies that give me the option to use my devices the way i see fit.

I really dont understand the idolisation of a man who actively restricts your options and charges you a premium for it.

Is this why whenever i see an Apple get-together like this i think of the movie THX 1137?
Semenya's sex test explained 2:41pm on 11 Sep 2009 Heres the thing, whatever the result of the tests its the IAAFs fault for not having strict policies on the issue. They need to rule once and for all how to deal with these situations. The IAAF have to protect all competitors, if conditions like these give an unfair advantage in a very gender dependant sport then they must rule now.

Caster should keep her medal, i dont think they should retroactively apply these rules.

Everything from the boring products (as always), the idolisation of a man who simply wants your cash and the company policies that ensure you get locked in, to the dull as dishwater musical performance. Its a living hell.
