Basshunter - 'I Promised Myself' 8:00pm on 29 Nov 2009 It should also be noted that this is a cover (be it extremely poor). The song was originally by Nick Kamen and I believe The A*Teens also produced a cover a few years ago.
Where next for the BBC iPlayer? 4:25pm on 20 Oct 2009 I have been using the BBC iPlayer plugin on XBMC from early 2008 onwards. It is very useful way of catching up on BBC in the lounge on the television rather than on the computer. Although having just upgraded to Sky+ this weekend, I feel I will be using iPlayer less. A Beeb endorsed script / plugin for the XBMC would be a great additional gem to add to the iPlayer armoury!
Keri Hilson - 'Energy' 11:48am on 12 Sep 2009 This song originally came out in April last year but only just been released as the fourth (?) international single. I believe it was the first release from the album Stateside. I think you are comparing the song with the wrong songs as other commenters have mentioned. It is perhaps better to compare it against Jennifer Hudson's If This Isn't Love. Hudson's song is much better and perhaps what Energy (with slicker production values) would have become. Having said all of that, I love the song, sometimes you do not care if it sounds like other more recent songs. Sometimes it is just about the moment!

The Saturdays - 'Just Can't Get Enough' 1:01pm on 03 Mar 2009 Good review but you have brought up an excellent point about cover versions. Some artists back catalogue is so sacred that it just cannot be covered. However, they tend to be the artists that are covered the most (Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Beatles etc etc).

Surely the point of a cover is to re-work the original in your own style. The worse covers are those that just rehash the original so it sounds just the same.
Can Xbox 360 fulfil its multimedia ambitions? 10:15pm on 26 Feb 2009 You can get iPlayer on XBox, but only the original XBox console. Modded with Xbox Media Centre (XBMC) a script has been out for some time. Originally it was used to download the iPod quick time files but this loop hole kept getting closed by the Beeb and then subsequent the code had to change. Eventually a streaming version was released but required Flash to be incorporated into the XBMC build (Atlantis if you are interested.)

It works a treat and it is great to watch shows on television rather than on the computer.

News on the go 1:20pm on 25 Nov 2008 As a self confessed news junkie since 16, I catch up on News on a variety of platforms. BBC News Channel remains the number one spot, which I like to watch from time to time. Sometimes you just want news, sometimes you want analysis (so hence I watch Newsnight regularly) Then there is the BBC News website which is the home page on all the computers I use. Radio is very good for breaking news, particularly when I am out and about and although I agree Five Live isn't great, it does serve it's purpose for my news needs. Finally there is BBC Mobile which I use now and again, when I am too far from a television or broadband connection. (Or just cannot be asked to switch on either)
