Talking drink 7:02pm on 26 Nov 2009 Any chance of making the FMQ's programme longer ? The Wednesday programme is pretty uneventful and is usually on for more than an hour.
But most times there could be a discussion to be had after FMQ's but it runs out of time.

Why was the Scotland on Sunday Orange Order story not reported ? Why did he not ask the question to McFall on todays show?
When just about every forum and blog is discussing the Orange Order story, the BBC ignore it !

In Scotland the people are sovereign. That's why you never have a King or Queen of Scotland, it's King or Queen of Scots.
The Act of Union was passed in the Scots parliament by a bunch of aristo's bribed by those who wished to see the Act go through.
There were riots in the Cities and Towns around Scotland. It was not popular !"Bought and sold for English gold, such a parcel of rouges in a Nation" was how Rabbie Burns described the despicible act.
Since that fateful day the ordinary Scots have never been asked their views and so far we have not been given our democratic right to have our say in a referendum.For a so called democratic country of Great Britain I say again that's a disgrace !

As for how Scotland would fair in independence, well we would do really really well. If you don't know how well Google "The McCrone Report"
We have oil that will last for decades to come. We have the Whisky, Golf, and a terrific tourist industry. I have no worries whatsoever that Scotland will flourish as an independent Nation.
What did you think of The One Show? Guest: Monty Don 4:24pm on 07 Oct 2009 The Union is indeed well past it's sell by date. From a Scottish point of view, we could very soon have the Lisbon Treaty ratified.
That would mean Scotland is within a union within a union. That's just plain nonsense !
The Scotish people were not willing participants when the Union was formed in 1707. We have never been asked if we want to remain in the Union. For a so called democracy called Great Britain, that's nothing short of a disgrace !
Being British is no longer popular here in Scotland. The figures on who regards themselves as British only stands at 3%. It jumps up to around 14% of you consider yourself Scottish and British.
Since devolution the Union is falling apart at the seams. The anomally of Scots MP's voting on English matters is causing the English great concern. The Union cannot continue in this fashion.
If the Tories win the next election as expected, then there will be even more clamour for independence in Scotland, as the Tories will have no mandate to govern Scotland.
For me independence is inevitable, and as said previously, we can take our seat as an equal Nation amongst others at the UN. Not classed as a region of a bigger political State Nation.
Time for Scotland to have a democratic referendum and let the people decide !
What did you think of The One Show? Guest: Monty Don 11:02am on 07 Oct 2009 The Union is past it's sell by date. It belongs in the past along with the Empire. The Sun has set and it's time for both Scotland and England to move into the 21st century.
The sad thing about England is it seems to have lost it's identity. Mixed up between English and British, some can't tell the difference.
I'm glad since devolution that there are many English people who are regaining that sense of English pride and identity.
The English are proud to once more fly the Cross of St George rather than the outdated Union flag.
I can't wait to see Scotland take her place amongst equals on the world stage.
Roll on the referendum !!!

Can't believe there are not more discussions about this topic south of the border ! We are talking about the possible break up of the UK ! But strangely it hardly merits a mention in the London - centric media....
Paper trail 09:52am on 01 Oct 2009 Politics can get very personal especially if you are the leader of a party. Just look at the personal attacks on Alex Salmond for instance.
Brown is no more than a bean counter, he is not a "leader". Leaders are able to deal with all aspects of the job.
That's what is wrong with Brown he can't do that. Take him out of his comfort zone of talking numbers and statistics and he is completely lost.
Modern day politicians need charisma and personality or they can so easily be persecuted by the media. Reading pre-written speeches from an auto-cue at a party conference won't get you votes.
Brown is facing utter humiliation at the next election, he knows this and I believe it's telling on his health.
Instead of his loving wife introducing her "hero" at the Labour party conference, she should be the one to tell him to find another job outside mainstream politics for the good of his health and her family.
