Staying on to help out 10:24am on 22 Jan 2009 This just underlines the cautious, measured approach Obama tends to take with matters. While not a control freak as such he certainly doesn't like to leave things to chance.

Hopefully it will remind Americans - and the rest of the world - that he is just a human, he'll be doing his best but you'll have to do yours if you want to live a better life.
The songs - and the candidate - remain the same 9:40pm on 29 Oct 2008 For a very transformational candidate he is also very risk adverse, which will stand him in stead for being President. I think Americans might be shocked (disappointed?) how "ordinary" things will be under Obama. I'm not saying he'll be a failure but after eight years of calamity the Obama administration might seem quite mundane.

Which would suit me perfectly.

The Bin Laden Question 1:35pm on 26 Oct 2008 You have to look at Bin Laden's goal - Armageddon, end times, judgement day. Which candidate is more likely to bring this?

The "next stage" of the Islamic/western global conflict looks like its heading to Iran, and McCain seems rather more eager to use military force against Iran (either directly or via Israel). Doing so would massively increase Bin Laden's cause and further stretch American influence - probably to breaking point.

Obama is no softy (he's just against "dumb" wars, not all wars). His major foreign announcement so far is that he'll go into Pakistan to get Bin Laden even if the Pakistani government don't approve. I'm sure there will be wars under an Obama administration (America is always at war) - but one hopes they'll be short, quick wars with straightforward exit plans.

So I think, Osama will probably vote for Bob Barr ;)
McCain and Palin's body language problem 6:59pm on 25 Oct 2008 They could've waited until 5th November to completely disintegrate; I've not got my popcorn ready yet.
Why poll numbers vary 7:00pm on 23 Oct 2008 Obama will do whatever it takes to protect the US. I think many European liberals will be disappointed with his foreign policy when it comes into action.

"I am not against all wars, just dumb ones" to paraphrase the man himself. He has a cool, almost ruthless streak in him, almost machine like. Just take the talking points - Obama has been repeating his about healthcare, economy, etc. for months now, while McCain's message jumps about all over the place.

I don't think Obama is going to a President they'll love, but they'll certainly respect (except the lunatic fringes of course).
Did McCain do enough? 09:55am on 16 Oct 2008 Better late than never for Colin Powell. I guess this is the icing on the cake for Obama.

McCain out of Michigan 10:48am on 03 Oct 2008 Palin just shores up the red states - North Dakota, Montana and of course Alaska. She's made them redder, but it seems a waste - you don't win any more electoral votes for winning states by big margins.

The biggest plus from Palin is that she has enthused the Republican volunteers - the people you need on the ground knocking on doors, without them you don't win elections. However they can't just relying on "getting out the base" as they did in 2004, there just isn't enough Republicans for them to do that this time around.
