The Killers - 'A Dustland Fairytale' 4:37pm on 04 Aug 2009 I don't think 'not liking long words' is something anyone could accuse me of. Also, I like of Montreal for my indie lyrical banal/genius tightrope walking (things like 'he's the kind of guy that would leave you in a k-hole to go play Halo in the other room' =GREAT, like a lot of the early Killers stuff where it didn't really seem particularly well thought through and therefore could get away with being faintly rubbish if you actually thought about them) my point was that the lyrics have forgotten their own banality and started sounding preachy where before they were self-conscious. :)

Honestly Chartblog I am well pleased we're all having an argument. If it would let me do the little html hearts then I would.
The Killers - 'A Dustland Fairytale' 11:29am on 04 Aug 2009 Dudes, it actually warms my heart to see people calling me an idiot for things I've written in a review again. It has been too long, Chartblog. (I genuinely mean this, incidentally -it reminds me of the good old emo controversy days; I am a great enthusiast of pop FITES, hence writing about music on the internet in the first place)

Anyway, I just thought I'd drop in and say a) yes I am saying that I don't like this song, that's rather how the whole 'reviewing' thing works but b) I actually like the Killers! That's what I said in the first part of the review! I just think this song could try a lot harder and I don't really enjoy their "new" sound because I think it is a disappointing retreat from what used to be a vibrant and enjoyable band. They've gone into 'boring millionth album autopilot' mode based on one single from their first one, as far as I can tell; I understand other people see that continuum as 'they found their sound completely' but you weren't writing the review, innit. ;)

Reviews would be very boring if they went like this-
First there's a tinkly bit and a touch of synth; the tinkly bit's a tad naff and I don't think much of the synth if I'm honest.
Then someone does a bit of singing.
Then theres a bit of chorus, which is quite good.
Then there's a bit of a breakdown and a dude plays a guitar solo.
Then it ends.

[NB: I am making that bit up, not talking about the N-Dubz song]

That doesn't give you much idea of how the song sounds and would be so boring we'd all cry if every review looked like that; Frasers describing the sense and the nature of the song, which is the most important bit in trying to desribe it, surely?

Chipmunk can do better than this. DJ Ironik I am not so sure but come on dudes, just because the US is doing dodgy sampling currently doesn't mean we have to leap right on and follow.

Enrique Iglesias ft. Ciara - 'Taking Back My Love' 2:13pm on 19 Mar 2009 I would be quite pleased if one of my kids got me Enrique's greatest hits for mother's day.

I think this song's great actually, too. Then again I generally think everything Enrique Iglesias does whilst wearing that 'I'm tortured yet romantic' face is great and Ciara is absolutely scorching in the video so rly.
