Cech gives Chelsea final hope 1:12pm on 29 Apr 2009 Is there a bigger wimp in football than Dani Alves? He's a disgrace to men. Would love to see him try out rugby, wouldn't last longer than a couple of minutes and guaranteed he'd bottle out of any tackle even if the opposition were a bunch of 10-year-olds.
Beckham gambling in Milan 5:35pm on 22 Oct 2008 I think in some ways Beckham probably regrets going to the US. Ok maybe he has raised his profile a little over there, but what has he achieved footbal wise?

He decided to go to LA when that idiot that is Pedrag Mijatovic told him he wasn't good enough for Real and wouldn't play much again. But then he managed to change the managers mind and I believe that without Becks Real may not have won the league in Becks' last year there. When he got back into the side, he was immense and helped them to find a good run of form.

He has gone to Milan because he wants to prove that he can still be a force in a top European side and therefore be a justified inclusion in the England squad.

I also believe that if Mijatovic and co hadn't been so quick to judge then Becks would have stayed at Real and there probably wouldn't be any moaning or discussion about whether he should be picked or not.

It's a big shame really that one of the most famous and best England players over the last 10 years is not still playing permanently in a team that matches his ability.

Well good luck to you Becks, I'm sure you'll do a good job and Milan should suit him well as ironWilliamOfOrange mentions earlier. They have a really good record of keeping ageing players around and playing at the top for longer than normal. Plus the Italian league being a bit slower than others will also help.

I'm sure with this change of scenary Beckham will definitely go on to become the highest capped outfield player in English history and I believe that he deserves it.
The right move for Robinho? 3:26pm on 02 Sep 2008 I can't understand why Robinho has signed for City. Who'd choose Manchester over Madrid? And it's not even United versus Real, but City!! Not really a fashionable side are they?
So lets weigh things up.
Madrid - Great weather, way of life, fashionable club, probably biggest in the world. Manchester - crap weather, not very attractive city and unfashionable club not in the Champions League. Also, surely Robinho wants to be playing in the Champions League.
I can't see this signing making City a top four side this year at all. So the new owners will have to wait at least another two years and lose 100s of millions before City can even comtemplate being in the Champions league.
Also the new owners say they want to ensure City doesn't have to rely on their money for too long. What are they gonna do? There's no way they can create the sort of turnovers that Man U, Real, Inter, AC, Arsenal, Liverpool get in the next few years. When people around the world think of Manchester and football, at least 99% of them think of MAN U not City. So they'll have to put up with losing obscene amounts of money for at least the next 5-10 years if they want City to challenge for the top prizes. Look at Chelsea as an example, they were more fashionable worldwide than City when Abramovich took over and 5 years on they still lose vast amounts of money each year, so why would it be different for City?
