Why 42 days? 11:29am on 10 Jun 2008 it has always concerned me that whatever number of days are allowed, surely at least some evidence gives them reason to want to continue the investigation ?

if they have no evidence at all, then what are they going on ??

to me it opens up the possibility of arrested now, investigating later, which i find very puzzling.

my only issue with the increase would be to ensure that in using the extra days they actually have good reason in the first place.

in the bbc's case, its spend spend spend, so that they can justify increasing the licence fee again and again.
