BBC HD Picture Quality: some myths laid to rest 1:08pm on 20 Dec 2009 Nick never wants to see the bigger picture, so don't expect any recourse through him. This is a matter for the complaints channel (which ironically is the subject of the complaint) and more likely, the BBC Trust complaints system.

She ignores the direct comparison of posters experiences pre-/ post august changes. She blames green lines etc. on domestic equipment. She ignores the obvious question - if the new encoders are better, why are the comparisons showing that in practice they are not? She harps on about the new encoders showing no difference when they put higher bit rates through them... not the same issue as "better then than now".
BBC HD Picture Quality: some myths laid to rest 5:31pm on 16 Dec 2009 I am worried about this issue too. I don't have HD, and have stalled my plan to get HD based on the PQ issues highlighted here. However I have made complaints in the past about quality of camerawork etc. (and asked for a response and comment from producers). My complaints through the proper complaint channel (the only way to make a formal complaint) have not appeared in any summary, nor come to the attention of the producer of the programme (I spoke directly to him later as I also work for the BBC elsewhere). When I requested a total of how many complaints the BBC receive about camerawork, I was told that there were no such figures.

So now Danielle has let the cat out of the bag - we have complained formally - she has seen just one complaint. Either the system is deliberately misleading by treating written formal complaints merely as comments, OR the system just doesn't work, and producers and managers are oblivious to issues that the viewers have tried to bring to their attention.

If you search the summaries online, you can't find the legions of complaints on camerawork or HD PQ - but you can find a judgement on the treatment of pigeons in the TopGear studio during a recording. mmmmm.
Points Of View Message Board 12:54pm on 14 Oct 2009 Nick... how come you delete our posts within seconds of the faintest whiff of off-topicality, yet the BBC boards have been serially spammed (like Post 207) and all of them remain on 30+ BBC blogs? Does anyone read BBC blogs? what are the statistics?

"As you can see from the pie chart above the vast majority of the money we spent on moderation last year was spent on message boards and other communities with a very small slice spent on blogs."

That is a rather silly statement without stating the audience reach of each. It is as silly as saying "we spent so much money on petrol driving to scotland compared to engine oil. Look how little oil cost us"
Blogs and boards: getting the balance right 1:59pm on 07 Aug 2009 Can I see the corresponding pie chart of post traffic between the boards and blogs?... otherwise, your moderation cost Pie Chart is totally meaningless, and worse still, very deceptive if viewed in isolation.
Open Post 2009-24-04 1:22pm on 23 Jul 2009 I too have many many unanswered questions that were stated clearly and required simple answers. They have been selectively avoided by Nick. I would give Nick the list again, but each time I do this the blog goes cold and I don't get an answer.

Hosting was not an issue. You are mistaken. Does it look like everyone is eternally grateful for you finding a host for us? We have less hosting presence now than we have ever had.... and that loss makes no difference anyway.
Points of View Message Boards 8: More Numbers 09:23am on 20 Jul 2009 I don't see post after post of users saying how much they appreciate any of the changes Nick has initiated.

I do see thread after thread of disgruntled users trying to push a rock up a hill and getting nowhere with intransigence from Nick.

I also see loads of former users migrating away.

I see traffic down 18%.

I see a part time host having less impact than previous hosts.

By any terms that is an unsuccessful improvement.
Moderation: Let's talk it over (2) 9:19pm on 19 Jul 2009 so post 144 was moderated because I responded to a comment by Nick in an earlier of his posts on this blog. How can that be off topic? if so surely his post was off-topic too?

This blog is becoming farcical.
