I've just come back from a nice trip to Ireland. The wife's relatives come from Cork, on the coast looking out to the Fastnet lighthouse. I got there in my 1988 Passat that does 60mpg on a run. I didn't achieve that this time as I was towing a caravan. It still achieved 37mpg! Better than many current production cars, and so having economically performed for 21 years, and saved the production of maybe 5 cars; it should be recognised as a 'green' car by this gov't if it is truely environmentally concerned. Please give me a road tax bill to match.
Sorry I've strayed off my point slightly...
In Ireland I quizzed the locals who have been launching their boats off the same quay for 60 years. I asked them if any of them had noticed any of the querky lumps, bumps and rocks had dissappeared under a rising sea level, seeing that their harbour is attached directly to the Artic and Antartic ice melts? "No" they replied.
Looking up Polar satellite data from Illinois University,whose observations go back to 1979, it can be seen that Artic Ice cover varies every year from about 17 million square miles down to 3 or 4. This is mirrored in the Antartic. This summer and the last have seen the minimum ice cover of 2007 gradually restore. Next summer will be interesting, to see if the trend continues. The Antartic has over recent years actually been increasing above it's 1979 to 2000 average. So minimal overall effect in total world ice cover and no sea rise from the 1 million sq mile overall temporary deficit.
Finally, we all know there were ancient cities now in arid environments. Were they wetter during unknown periods of global 'warming' and small polar icecaps or during times when more water was trapped in ice. A strange paradox it would appear...

I nearly cried...

Interestingly a rough figure of 5:1 injured to killed was proffered. Will that tally tomorow with MOD revelations?

Did anyone notice the 'slip' by an army medic on location in Afganistan to a reporter for BBC's AM news on Radio 4 last week when our casualties were only 15 deaths?
He blurted out that there were 157 injured. I can only surmise that that represents nearly 11:1.

Logic tells me that injured troops occur at other times when there are no deaths too, so I'm going to bump the true ratio up to 15:1 or maybe 20:1 or if the US are like they were in Iraq, 30:1 does not seem absurd due to friendly fire... I give my prophesy 65% probability according to my laptop PC ;op

More of a concern, is the comments by the man from the Meteorology unit playing down the gross error in his prophesy of a 'good' Summer this year, when, in Spring it was claimed that many factors had been incorporated along with 'mere chance' being only a small part. What is the point in the worlds biggest computers being upgraded to give us a 15% edge over 50/50 chance?
Are these same people to be trusted with the key issue of the great Global Warming [oops] Climate Change tax revenue scam?

I'm sure I also heard that as chancellor he knew nothing about the bank's dodgy investment products... World's best chancellor??
Didn't I say months ago that he was simply the Silver Surfer riding the crest of a wave of economic prosperity, and having little or no influence either way. Waves have disappeared and now the tide is going out, Mr Brown with it.
Nice to see the party's are going to be more in touch with the public with future policy... A bit like my Mandate Party 'me tinks' :o)

If we now have to fight it incase it turns nasty, then why did we not quarrantine Mexico in the first place? People were dying at the time.
Banning world commuting to and from the country unless people were inoculated would have saved £billions... Money that could have saved millions of lives through additional healthcare for the 3rd world...

With the 50% price fluctuation game of BOGOF in the supermarkets for tins of tuna, it would be easy to eake out 10p extra to go direct to the workers and dramatically improve their lot.

More importantly something missed by all others AFAIK:

Did you notice the size of the tuna being processed?
No bigger than a decent mackerel.
When I was a lad all picture books referred to tuna as being 100's of lb. So, if processing tonnage is currently up 20 fold for example, and fish are now between 1/20th and 1/50th of mature size, we are looking at between 400 and 1000 times the catch rate, no wonder we fish to extinction.
Note all figures are ficticious and may be better or, as I suspect worse in reality...

Why should we trust any of them to act objectively when they have their fingers in the pot? How can someone forget they've not paid rates, or paid off mortgages, and put it down to poor business accounting sense, yet we have to trust what they say on significant world policy. A bit like the global warming nonsense, that has now become climate change. As we speak there is globally more polar ice than the 1979 to 2000 average! It's all a scam to raise money by taxation, or to raise money for lobby groups.
I won't be scrapping my 21 yr old 'carry oodles of stuff' Passat estate, because it never costs more than £100 to get it through the MOT, AND it gets 62mpg on a run. Electric cars' batteries die after 2 or 3 years and cost many £000's to replace, and are not green to dispose of.
Sorry I digress; back to the MP's:
I have always queried how do they enter pariament as poorish peasants, and leave after a relatively few years service with a string of properties and lucrative jobs, and no doubt a significant pension? Abuse of the system is why.

I hope the Guardian comes out with the cheating of that family, that liked to buy properties in Clifton. He needs to do time for war crimes as well in my oppinion.

If I've said it once I've said it several times , Gordon Brown is like the Silver Surfer, he simply rode in on the crest of a wave when anyone could have prospered, and now the wave has broken and the tide has turned, he's off his board and drifting out to sea...

What would I do?

Create a new party
"The Mandate Party" where most decisions would be made by secure electronic vote, call it popularist or whatever. Act only with the will of the people.

It makes me sick to hear these current parties get voted in on one policy and claim it gives mandate for other decisions; like wasting money in this recession on lavish Olympics, and now there are whispers about world footie...
I must stop whilst I puke...
The iPM Opinion Poll Competition. 10:12pm on 07 May 2009 In light of the current expenses scams oops errors, surely a better poll for the people is not trivia about nudists, but is it time for a new political party... My 'Mandate Party' No more sailing close to the margins of the law, and no more poor politician leaving politics exceedingly wealthy within a few years by using expense claims to subsidise capital investment...

here is my chosen suggestion for a poll:

None of the main political parties are worthy of my vote. They all[both] get voted in on one policy, and then claim that this gives them a mandate to cover their other previously hidden, noxious agenda.
My question is:
"With the advent of the internet giving most voters a potential voice, is it now the time to create a new party; 'The Mandate Party' where all main decisions are based on the will of the people?"
Government by poll, by majority, by popular vote etc etc. Independant jurors could monitor and prevent skewing of questions, themselves randomly elected by a kind of Jury Service technique.

Why is there a restriction in the number of entries for the poll, and why not have more than one question polled[if they're good enough]...
Hmm a bit like my 'Mandate Party' I suppose... ;o)
