I've just listened to the major soundbites of all the big points and I don't believe they'll deliver on any one of them. In the same way that they didn't deliver last time round. And what really bites hard, they shouted loud today (Gordon did) about every major news story that has happened over the last few days, and they were looking for votes..... They weren't involved before it happened..... But they want to be associated now, Shame....

Just look at everything he promised, everything was a "mediabite", very sad...... And what really bites is that we had promises last time and they didn't deliver on any of them.......

Well that's stating the obvious.... Must be hard for die hard Labourites...

They know the mood of the country, they know when they are being fed lies and falsehoods. Maybe they are prepared to throw some white spirit on the gloss of Mr Brown's big day!

Be careful before you denigrate the opinion of a major media outlet, we all here have experience of media biased, oh and how we ignore it.... Thankfully.

Today's speech was full of everything the electorate wanted to hear, and didn't need to hear. Full of empty promise, high expectations and the rhetoric that we expect from a vacant government.

As for the relationship between Osbourne and Murdoch Jnr. Really Mr Robinson, can you do any better? I recall the close relationship between Mr Murdoch Snr and the Tories. And how about your relationship with the Labour Party? Come now?

Let's look at the reality. No new ideas, no new leader, no newspapers......

So sweet to see the Murdoch press (Albeit Jnr) giving it as it is. About time. A fair reflection on the way many of us feel.

As for the speeches from the last couple of days. What a load of twaddle. Are we supposed to believe that the current government are going to keep the promises they have just made? They weren't capable of keeping any of the previous promises....

Mandleson tried hard to rally the troops and his number two didn't do badly today. But the truth is that we, the general public are sick and tired of sick and tired promises, we've had enough. We don't believe you have the money to fulfil your promises. Stop trying to con us.

It's a disgrace they way they try to cheat us. They should have more respect for their electorate. Perhaps they think by changing the way we vote for them they might keep a grasp on power?

It was all cheap and nasty today. And they might just get what they deserve?

Agree on the lack of posts..... Perhaps we're all waiting to die....

Because there are always extremes. If it's not drink or drugs, if they didn't exist we'd be shouting at the guy who eats too much red meat, or the woman who ran 20 miles a day risking heart attacks and knee joint problems.

Society is measured by excess, good or bad, we need excess to lay boundaries. Those seemingly excessive boundaries are actually tolerable and could be a lot worse. Imagine massive heroine abuse, 30% glue sniffing, a nation of alcoholics. It's the large minority that measure the allowable excess. If it wasn't for them, and what society deems acceptable, all hell could break loose...

'Safe in our hands' 01:25am on 28 Jul 2009 Nick, very scary to see you fronting a mainstream news programme. Best you're left to editorial comment and we can take a view as to how neutral you are....

As for the topic (got there eventually) it's a hard choice but we need strong government to make these choices.

Insist on full insurance for all non british citizens (I hope we do already). If you don't have insurance you don't get in.

Make sure every penny of NI goes to the NHS (I doubt it does)...

Every penny of state funded research on health issues that is sold abroad goes back to the NHS... Oh how much would that return???

Stop sex-changes, gender ops, fertility treatments, obesity operations. If these guys/girls think they are more worthy than those in real need then they should get psychiatric help when the recession is over (or not please)...

Spend money where it is essential and stop messing around, we're in a crisis and needs must..

*** I'd rather see the 6 year old with leukemia getting help than the bloke down the road that wants tits....
Does Europe need hedge funds? 10:55am on 09 Jul 2009 What in fact the EU are doing, either knowingly or not, is making London a far less attractive destination for banks and investors, potentially bringing it into line with Frankfurt and Euronext.

Not great for investment or jobs in the UK. Nice for the Euro and our neighbours though.

This seems to be more politically motivated than financial.

We want rid of the bad, keep the good and bring in quangos that are necessary.

What's the story?

You were doing so well when you asked the PM about the "CUTS" story... "This is a debate he does not want to have, an interview he did not enjoy, but a subject that will not go away."
