Benitez continues defiant approach 6:12pm on 11 Jan 2009 Rafa, bless him, went on about dealing in facts when he didn't actually make clear what the facts were. Earlier Wenger, who is hardly a fan of Man Utd actually did cite facts to back up what Fergie said. I wouldn't say Benitez is worried or scared, (he's top of the league for goodness sake) but he didn't address Wenger's and Ferguson's concerns about the fact that Liverpool had more home games after Champions League fixtures than anyone else. That is a genuine fact.

Ince forced out by fear factor 10:32pm on 16 Dec 2008 I think, like other people on here, that perhaps Incey made the step up to Blackburn too soon. Perhaps he would have been better advised to stay a bit longer at the MK Dons and get them as high up the league as possible. Didn't Martin O'Neill do a longish stint at Wycombe and look how good he is now.
Big four toil as Celtic show spirit 9:33pm on 06 Nov 2008 I've never been a big fan of Incey, even when he played for United, but I have to say that his comments about Celtic are spot on. Celtic is a huge club, with a massive following, but they play in the weakest league in Europe where, effectively, only two sides have a chance of winning the league each year and the rest wouldn't even be able to compete in the English lower leagues. The record of Scottish clubs in Europe is such that it proves they don't merit their one automatic qualification for the group stages of the Champions League and that is something that Uefa should review. Fergie therefore feels he can risk his weaker players against Celtic and thus keep everyone at United happy. It’s noticeable that the side never perform wonderfully when Tevez is on the team sheet but it gives the Argentine a chance to prove his worth for the team. So Fergie sends him out knowing that a late re-jig will always save the day if things are going according to plan. It isn’t necessarily Tevez’s fault that he is so ineffective. Diego Forlan didn’t fit in either and he’s doing OK elsewhere. It’s nonsense to suggest that Celtic even held their own against this weakened United side when the reds (the blues on the night) had over 70% of the possession and pinned the Bhoys in their own half for most of the game. The only critics of Fergie and his tactics are the Liverpool and Arsenal fans who have to take consolation from what they desperately perceive as the decline of United.
Robinho deal caps day of drama 5:12pm on 02 Sep 2008 If Hughesy is worth his salt as a manager he won't settle for the Champions league in two season as someone suggested, he'll try to make Eastlands the fortress it was for most of last season, buy in the transfer window if necessary and get City into the top four this year. One of the top four always under-performs and the secret will be to attack that side with a vengeance and get their place. If he pulls it off Manchester will be the equivalent of Milan with two enormously powerful clubs battling it out for all the honours.
Liverpool may fall short in title tilt 3:38pm on 15 Aug 2008 Chelsea for the quadruple and the Scousers nowhere. You know I'm right. Even the die-hard Liverpool fans will be nodding. Keane, lets face it, is second rate. Not good enough for Inter Milan so how come we're even contemplating the fact that his addition to a nondescript Liverpool line-up will yield anything other than mediocrity. JT pointed out that Man U are on the wane, Arsenal are perennial re-builders so yes I suppose third place in the league, last 16 in the FA Cup and and early exit from the Champions league are realistic prospects for our once powerful friends from Merseyside.
The Federer circus rolls into town - but not the village 3:48pm on 07 Aug 2008 Tom, you must be hard up for things to write about. Does it matter where Federer stays? The people who go to see him play want to see him play his best tennis and if he produces that I doubt if they'll be saying, 'Ah yes but he only won because he was put up in a luxury hotel. Perhaps you think that Roger's game is so poor now that if he stayed in the village Murray would have a chance of getting a Bronze.
Man Utd should sell 'slave' Ronaldo 6:28pm on 11 Jul 2008 I agree with the comment by Oneway86. The Glazers are hard nosed businessmen and will only sell a player who is contracted to their club for the next four years if it suits them. At the moment Ronaldo is on fire and is in no way comparable to RVN (who was massively overrated and went for half what Utd paid for him) and Becks whom I think was nowhere near as good as he thought he was. I think there was a story on the TV once about a family home Malcolm Glazer bought and demolished just to stop the rest of his family getting part of it. Does that sound like the sort of bloke who would let Ronaldo walk out of OT while he still has an obligation to Utd?
