Twitter's front page makeover 11:20am on 29 Jul 2009 The only thing more tedious than another Twitter story is the non-stop moaning that takes place afterwards....

If you aren't interested, don't respond. That's the best way to get them to realise that people don't care about Twitter stories.

It is hilarious how people queue up to whine about Apple fanboys. Yes they can be annoying at times, but the anti-Apple crowd have well and truly taken over in the annoying ability to bury any topic beneath their usually (not always I have no problem admitting) ill-informed and illogical blatherings.

Here's a thought. If you don't like Apple-related stories, don't bother commenting on them. If no interest is shown I'm sure the BBC Bloggers will find something else to talk about that will generate more interest.

As for N95 v iPhone, the N95 is a great phone for being able to boast about the amount of functions your phone can do. In actual use I found it to be a bug-ridden, slow and awkward phone to use, with the end result being that I rarely used any of the more fancy functions. I now have an iPhone, and whilst it may miss out certain functions (none of which I ever used anyway) the usability is streets ahead of the N95. It isn't anywhere near the miraculous device Apple would have you believe, but then the N95 was nowhere near as good as Nokia would have you believe either. It's called marketing.

Windows has a much better selection of games without question, but once again you have shown you haven't a clue what you are talking about. To render your statement about no 3D games on the Mac as total garbage I only have to name one, but here's a few:

As for Autodesk? Might want to look up Maya. Made by Autodesk. For the Mac.

There isn't a thing I haven't been able to do on a Mac that I used to use Windows for. And in the vast majority of cases it does it much better. And a whole lot less viruses and malware.

That doesn't sound like a virus to me. Never heard of one that can destroy a motherboard! I think you just got a badly made machine (which is annoying enough) but definitely does not sound like a virus.

As already mentioned, there are loads of apps available for a Mac. Apple have no control over what apps people write for a Mac or install on one. Clearly you have never actually used one before.

Apple do attempt to control iPhone apps, but you can jailbreak it to install other apps that aren't available through the iTunes store. I remember having to hack my Windows Smartphones in order to install the apps I wanted rather than those that had been certified.

I occasionally run ClamXAV on my Mac but never had a virus. I have a hardware firewall and that's all you really need for a Mac. There are some trojans that can record keystrokes etc, but these are apparently from dodgy porn sites and need you to enter your admin password to install. To be honest, if you are thick enough to actually do this, you deserve any problems you get.

Macs are leagues ahead of Windows PC's for security, and no amount of shoddy reporting from the BBC can change that.
McCain's lost battle 09:51am on 05 Nov 2008 Congratulations to Obama. I like what I see of the guy and hope he can deliver.

My feelings on McCain are mainly of frustration. I wish the McCain of 2000 could have been in this election instead of what we got. However I feel the GOP smear tactics that won Bush the nomination then, and encouragement from his campaign team this year led him to believe he had to fight dirty to win. The Muslim/Arab/Not-American/Socialist/Terrorist nonsense was disgraceful, and I do not believe that the real McCain would have put up with that kind of campaign. Indeed there was one moment where after hearing a woman at one of his rallys call Obama an Arab, McCain took the microphone off her, told her to sit down, and then admonished his supporters saying that they had nothing to fear from an Obama presidency. This was the honourable man I believe John McCain to be.

Clearly he was told off by his campaign managers as after that point he was telling everyone that they should be afraid!

I think that one moment was telling, as until his concession speech it was the only real sight of what I think of as the 'real' McCain that we got. I think if he had stuck around he might have done a whole lot better last night.

I hope Obama does offer McCain a position on his staff, as I feel the real McCain has an awful lot to offer.
Digital music - who can beat iTunes? 1:47pm on 17 Sep 2008 I got some discounted vouchers for iTunes and that is the only reason I have ever bought music from there (I use the App Store for my iPhone). I won't pay full price for music from there.

An example of why I don't use it is the new Metallica album. I bought the CD from a shop for the same price, and so have a CD quality version I can copy to any device I want, in the format I want and at the quality I want.

iTunes and other services (especially if they want to take any of Apple's market share) must sell their wares at a lower price than you can buy CD's for, and at a better bit-rate than iTunes can currently provide, and without the ridiculous controls over how many PC's you can play it on, how many CD's you can burn it to and how many devices you can listen to it on.

If there is a service that will provide all of that, and with a huge catalogue to choose from, I'll be willing to use it.

I'd agree the keynote wasn't exactly thrilling from what I have read about it. Then again I'm not in the market for buying a new iPod so wasn't expecting to be thrilled.

Why shouldn't Apple concentrate on the release for their own OS first? It's natural for them to do so. Plus developing for OSX tends to be easier than for Windows.

Microsoft have plenty of software that never gets an OSX release, and that's an OS that has been 'out for a sufficient time'. Mind you considering the quality of Office 2008 I'm quite glad about that.

And yes, Macs are great. Glad you agree!
Saving TV advertising the TiVo way 1:27pm on 23 Jul 2008 Make no mistake, Sky will be watching this and if the scheme makes money they will copy it.

Hell, this is the same Sky that ripped off Tivo's PVR concept (Tivo made the mistake of contracting Sky to do their UK marketing), and claim credit for it.

I still use a Tivo, and despite it's age and lack of multi-channel recording, it's still a better and more reliable machine than Sky+ has been.

That said the idea of adverts during shows is terrible. Product placement can be annoying enough, but I hate the thought of having my viewing disturbed outside of the normal commercials, which are bad enough on their own. I would expect however that unless the machines come with an option to switch the feature off, they won't sell enough to make the scheme a success.
