Priced out of Olympic sport? 2:48pm on 20 Oct 2009 Very good blog, and this is exactly the problem with watching live sports these days. A sport like gymnastics should be striving to get as many through the door as possible, building a fan base with an exciting, well supported event. Other sports certainly fall foul of too high ticket prices as well, which is why football crowds now frequently boo their own team. Lowering ticket prices should be what sporting organisers concentrate on in the near future.

The rights to highlight 3:07pm on 05 Aug 2009 This is fantastic news. 1 hour 20 is a good time for the show, and putting it after match of the day can only be a good thing. Even better the fact that I can watch it on the red button in case I miss it, and then on the iplayer all week after that! Good stuff, i only wish Match of the Day could be shown like that.

Following up from a previous comment - all the goals MUST be shown, especially if the tag line for the trailer is "we support your team". Not to do so every week would be criminal. I also hope a show for TV will be made for midweek programmes of games, of which there are many more in the Football League compared to the Premier League? This should certainly not be forgotton

As a Nottingham Forest fan I am glad to see my team picked for a live game, but to have two Newcastle games already is a bit much - they are used to live football, show some teams we're not used to seeing.
Clough times at Derby 9:56pm on 28 Jul 2009 I would like to distance myself from nottinghamshire_red's views about Clough's burned bridges with Forest. All sensible Forest fans are not so foolish as to disregard anyone with a connection with Derby (Notably Billy Davies and of course Old Big 'Ead).

However I do agree with nottinghamshire_red's analysis of signings so far. Nottm Forest appear to have brought in some decent names in the right areas whereas Derby have acquired players "with potential". I know what I would prefer.

Another good point is that a successful, experienced campaigner at this level (such as Billy Davies) is where I would prefer to place my trust, rather than someone with no league experience before this job.

But this fine blog is about Derby, not the comparisons between Nottm Forest and Derby. For what its worth, I don't think Derby will challenge for promotion next season, but I can't see them seriously being threatened by relegation either

My favourite tennis to watch is definitly grass court tennis but there are only 6 tournaments, compared to 37 hardcourt and 22 claycourt tournaments. Do you agree that the grasscourt season is a bit short? All the best
The jeers and not enough cheers in Turin 01:01am on 09 Mar 2009 Ideally I would like to see less hostility towards Dwain Chambers. If he is now clean then maybe he should be made more of an example of how well you can do without drugs.

It is surely very difficult however for former athletes to be forgiving, considering the years of work put in to stay at the top of their game. Chambers hasn't helped with his comments either - especially those saying "it is unlikely an olympic gold medal can be won without performance enhancing drugs". Can Jonathan Edwards really be expected to give a straight interview after this slur?
FA Cup never loses magic 00:50am on 05 Jan 2009 #61 and #67 - Definitly agree, I found myself bored of ITV's highlights on sunday night. Too much talking on the couch and not enough football by far.

Taming the Ryder Cup rodeo 4:57pm on 18 Sep 2008 Like many others I think this has been way overexaggerated. If this was a definite list with an order then it would matter more but its not. Im surprised he got frustrated at the news conference however, everything seems to be going great for him and europe so far
Ryder Cup lowdown 3:16pm on 15 Sep 2008 It's hard to see anything but another European win, with confidence high from previous ryder cups and the much publiscised better team spirit. However this time the rankings of players match up as well, possibly even in Europe's favour. Hopefully being the underdogs and a home crowd won't galvanise the USA to an unlikely win.
On and off 5:49pm on 10 Sep 2008 The Paralympics coverage is a tricky one - and I think the bbc are doing "ok" with the coverage. The Paralympics are never going to be as widely watched as the Olympics so less coverage on BBC1 and 2 is surely understandable. Having not seen the services available on the red button I cannot comment on them, but I would expect them to be almost identical to Olympic coverage.

Of the international football coverage question, i don't blame the BBC for not paying a 7 figure sum for it. That kind of money could be much better spent. The answer I feel lies in government legislation, which should make extended highlights (at the very least) available to terrestrial viewers for competitive international games, in much the same way as many other sporting events rights are correctly sold
