And there we have it, the great European project in all its tarnished glory - name calling and distortion are acceptable provided the great project survives! Nothing must get in its way, ignore 'No Votes' because its far too dangerous to hold referendums, the people are too stupid. No need to abide with rules & regulations and do not accept opposition of any kind.
Cost benefit studies on participation are beyond the pale, you can't possibly measure the European ideal! The 'spirit' continues to beat in Ford Mondeo's heat but luckily he is in a distinct minority - the project is unsustainable, its a gonner!

Don't you know that the UK compliance industry goes into turbo drive in the race to be the first industry/country to comply with every EU directive issued, irrespective of how long the other 26 take to comply, if at all!
Past and current UK governments have conspired to sell our sovereignty to the European project; for what? For the common good or could it be the lure of the EU pension gravy train?

Your comments follow the mealy mouthed digs at Farage made by Dimbleby in Thursday's Question Time, while allowing Spelman to make outrageous statements. We need balance from our state broadcaster - I don't want to pay for bias!

We're all biased in some way but at least I don't have to pay you an annual fee for that pleasure!

Is that a wind up or are you serious? Isn't it strange that bloggers like you don't use the expressions 'little Scotlanders' or 'little Irelanders' when they criticise the EU. Your first paragraph is little more than spiteful bile against people who raise geniuine concerns against the attempts to create the United States of Europe.

I wonder if Napoleon, the Kaiser and Hitler also raged against us little Englanders (after all, I have got a 28ins inside leg!)

My doctor has now warned me off the EU because I get so frustrated with both the UK Government and our electorate. Let's hope they give the three main parties the contempt they deserve in the Euro elections next year.
Mind you, Campbell & Mandelson may have already convinced dear Gordon to hold a General Election on the same day to muddy the waters!!

EU spending gripes 11:30pm on 11 Nov 2008 I'm more interested in the €6M that's gone missing in this year's accounts. No wonder the accounts were not given a 'clean' bill of health.

I also wonder how much pressure was put on the ECA to sign off the accounts this year? Just in time for the 2nd Irish referendum and the 2009 European elections!

#11 To compare the UK Government accounting standards with those of the EU is a diversion. Brown has dragged the UK finances into the very gutter inhabited by the Commission.

The 2005 UK general election came close to a stunt, it was a facade -all three main parties were afraid to mention the EU and thought that the manifesto promise of a referendum would get them out of this black hole.

Pity the poor delusional man who led the Luton 'Yes' campaign - he thinks that the more we find about the EU the more in favour we will be. The politicians and eurocrats know better than that, they prefer fudge, evasion, and regulation, regulation, regulation!

As far as Baroness Ashton is concerned, I watched her in the Lords Referendum debate and was appalled by her weak defence of the indefensible - she is obviously well suited to her new job.
