Benefit cuts consensus? 12:23pm on 05 Oct 2009 Labour has created a society of people who can use the system to fund a lifestyle that they have not contributed towards. The people on this blog who say it's disgusting to propose this need to get off their soap boxes and understand that this proposal is tagetting people who 'can' work and not those that 'cannot'.

I am all for a society were we take care of those less firtunate than myself, what as happened is there is inbalance created by those rely on the benefit system out of choice not out of need.

Has always been the problem with Labour their heart is in the right place, but sadly their minds are clouded by pity instead of common sense!
Ferguson revels in classic win 12:39pm on 21 Sep 2009 I just find it a shame that so many negative, sour grapes comments on this article have marred what was actually an excellent derby game. Whether there was 1 or 10 minutes of extra time is irrelevant, City lost it under pressure because they thought that they had a point in the bag... Any other real champion contenders would have pushed for a winner, City didn't and paid the price for it. Just ask how many other teams may have lost titles because they backed off thinking their work was done. How many boxers do you see drop their gloves when the beel sounds? Not many champs, they try and get a blow in on the bell!!!
Mark Hughes knows this but he cannot really criticise his team for throwing it away, so he does what most poeple do, blame the ref...
Becoming the story 12:46pm on 09 Jul 2009 oh c'mon Nick, such Labour bias is becoming far to obvious now!!! The truth is I suspect that Labour politicians are more worried about what may have been heard by them than the fact that their phones were tapped.
In anycase, it's ironic from a government which wants to track the move of every member of the public, that they now cry foul when it is their lives that are under scrutiny.
Condoms or family meals? 3:57pm on 27 Mar 2009 Maybe if the government didn't throw so much money in benefits at these child mothers they would think twice? As soon as little miss independant realises that the way out of her parents home isn't to get pregnant then it will reduce dramatically!!!
The problem with winner takes all 1:37pm on 18 Mar 2009 A very good article... I can only say that this 'tweaking' goes to show the one single thing that most fans have always thought. That those that run F1 want to control who races, how they race and who wins more than making sure the fans (who ultimately fund it all) enjoy the experience.
Man Utd look unstoppable 09:27am on 05 Mar 2009 I'll say the title is UTD's when we are 10 points clear with 3 to play... Until then it can all change.

Everyone is talking about UTD not losing several games. But two draws is a loss of points greater than one win a loss!!! Look at Liverpools draws at home to see the points loss.

The only thing that can give an element of confidence is that do Chelsea & Liverpool have the ability to up their game enough to put in a run of wins like UTD have, not sure...

I think the run in will be tighter than people predict.
Plus c'est la mme chose? 3:10pm on 05 Jan 2009 surely part of the problem is the size of the population... This is a problem that Labour have created as they have made making babies a career choice paid for by the working families who cannot afford them.

The result, less children from a families with a working ethic and more from a reliance on public benefits...

Until this trend is reversed there is always going to be more people on the scrounge than able to pay for it...
Why punish savers? 07:59am on 05 Dec 2008 The savers aren't being punished, they are just not getting the same reward for being prepared to save their cash.

Let's just remember that those with huge savings are actually doing very little for the interest they get (other than taking a risk with their money).

If nobody saved, what would the outcome be? well for one the banks would have no money to lend, so those who cannot afford to buy things wouldn't be able to borro? And the problem with that is, well nothing on the surface but it would hit businesses as they sales drop which means those people with business that allow them to save would no longer be able...

Just a vicious circle... so I say to savers take what's on offer, you could be a lot worse off!!!
Why we all lose in the 2012 funding lottery 11:38pm on 03 Dec 2008 Some very good points made, and yes for those that have worked so hard to have their funding cut is not pleasant... But, lets get real shall we... Billions of taxpayers money has been thrown into the financial markets to prop up the economy. People are losing jobs, their homes and much more.

So a few less athletes running around a track, or swimming in a pool for personal glory is pretty cheap price to pay in the current climate.

He knew what he was doing got caught and as far as I'm concerned shouldn't be representing my country in the Olympics. His place should go to someone who has got where they are through genuine hard work.

Truth is the law will probably ensure he can go but the guy should have more respect for himself and his country and disappear into the background where he belongs...
