Currently Tests are played at Durham in May when it is freezing cold and One days scheduled in Septermber in the North West when ex-hurricanes tend to deposit rain on the Old Trafford ground while the East of the country remains dry. Lancashire continually cite the number of days lost to weather as a reason that they do not win the County Championship so perhaps a study of seasonal weather records might allow more cricket to be played.

If he is seriou about ending the appalling culture of spin why does he need to employ a man with Coulson's track record at a salary above that of any Cabinet Minister?
Return of the soapbox 2:03pm on 21 Jul 2009 I can remember when we last had a Prime Minister who was not for turning. The recession got worse, unemployment went from one million to three million and British Manufacturing disappeared never to return. Interest rates went up and up and tax cuts went mainly to the richest ten percent of the population. It looks as though we are going to get another dose of the same from Dave, who will never admit to being wrong and adjusting to reality not the monetarist dream world.

Executives should be tested every five years and if they are incompetent should be prevented from working in the Financial Industry. The Government Inspection Department would look into Business and be named Busted.
England World Twenty20 player ratings 12:31pm on 17 Jun 2009 England failed to hit sixes and kept the one player who has shown he could do it, Graham Napier, on the Bench. I believe that Napier might not be a Test player, in the same way that Yuvraj isn't, but at least we should have given him a chance. It seems that the England Selectors pick a player in the squad because of public pressure but lack the guts to rest a contracted player just in case the outsider might succeed.
What they're not telling you 1:31pm on 12 Mar 2009 For a start the Government could make Tax avoidance illegal and make companies that trade in the UK pay UK Tax. The Fat Cats who have been increasing their salaries exponentially over the last twenty years should see their Income Tax put back to sixty percent where it was when Saint Thatcher was Prime Minister. Non-executive Directors and Auditors should be held to account for their lax behaviour and the Nuclear Deterrent should be scrapped. After that the Government could ask the base rate Tax-Payers who've bailed out the Banks to accept some cuts.
Language of the downturn 3:41pm on 16 Feb 2009 Could somebody please explain what auditors do today? I believe that the Enron auditors ended up in prison but it seems that in this country they charge huge sums to ignore gross iregularities in Company Accounts.
