Carl Baker and Stockport - an example to us all 2:12pm on 14 Sep 2009 Good on stockport, in the days where money is everything, what they are doing is pure class, many other clubs should take a leaf out of their book.
I,m sorry to hear about his older brother, and I wish the best of luck to his younger brother and hope he overcomes his illness.
Keep on scoring Baker and hopefully more people will take notice of Stockport and the good things they are doing for charity!

Sheffield Wednesday's man with a (business) plan 10:26pm on 14 Jul 2009 sheffrangers.....i never want to say anything bad against any wednesday fan, but you have to be positive about the new chairman, would you rather we were stuck with the old lot not achieving anything, not even promising to achieve anything.
surely some hope is better than no hope at all.
we arent stupid, we realise that things might not go perfect, but at least the guy is trying, at least hes giving us something to believe in.
Stop living in the negative times, hes got me and i,m sure quite a few others believing that sheff weds is a better place to be.
One step at a time mate, and we are certainly taking a step in the right direction.

Sheffield Wednesday's man with a (business) plan 12:08pm on 14 Jul 2009 The new chairman has only been since january and straight away he made a difference. Simple things like telling the fans what they wanted to achieve and how. Even telling us about potential investment which seems to be kept under wraps until certain.
As well as this hes brought a feel of common sense leadership, making the club more fan accessable, making the club more about the fans, and involving the entire community, something that has just not been done to far.
I think giving the shirt sponsor to the childrens hospital (and giving a 1 pound to them for every shirt sold) is a real class act in todays game which is dominated by money. It has been said previously but barca and villa have done it but they arent exactly short a few quid!
These changes have been well recieved and the club is a much more positive place to be now, shown by the season tickets sales which are way up on previous years.
Some good signings have been made and with a bit of luck we might have a decent season!

Fixture and frettings 09:31am on 18 Jun 2009 I,m worried for Boro, they had absolutely no fight last season, in fact the season before they only had cattermole getting stuck in and then sold him! The championship is a physical league and i just cant see boro having any presence, even if people with quality like downing stay, i think he,l just get kicked off the pitch...cant give him the time to cross it in, so might as well get stuck into him.
This, combined with the fact the the riverside has no atmosphere, they wont exactly be making it difficult for opposing teams.

What do you think of the fixtures list? 2:46pm on 17 Jun 2009 start with a local derby at home, boxing day at home against newcastle, and home on the final day...got to say i,m happy to be a wednesday fan!
Is Owen still worth a gamble? 2:36pm on 15 Jun 2009 definately worth a shot, hes still got an eye for goal, he just needs a good period of games and fitness.
I think international level might be a bit beyond him, although we arent exactly swimming with 20 goal a season strikers.
Everton would be a good move, but as you said, there the risk of having him and saha on big wages and maybe not playing too many games.
He doesnt really fit villas strategy with the big man upfront supported by the pace of young and gabby, not sure where he would fit in.
if he really wants a challenge, he could come down to hillsborough, and score a few in the championship!!
Secrets of the fixture computer 07:34am on 15 Jun 2009 good interesting article, always wanted to know what went into making the fixture list. I have a lot more understanding and respect for that guy, however, i will still complain about having to go from sheffield to plymouth on a wednesday night!
I suppose when the fixtures are announced, thats when the tv companies stick their noses in and change all the fixtures again!! lol
So when the fixtures come out we can start preparing for the new season, only 8 weeks to go!!
Moyes and Everton can defy odds 08:21am on 29 May 2009 As good as everton have been playing this season, I think chelsea will be too determined, and too good for everton. They will want to make sure Hiddink signs off with a win.
As a neutral, I just hope there plenty of goals!!
