Changes to international pages (3) 10:28am on 22 Jun 2009 The BBC is here to serve the UK licence fee payer (despite emjaydub's interpretation of the Royal Charter). If you don't fall in to that category, you have no right to comment, if you are unfortunate enough to have a TV licence in the UK, but have to work abroad, that's unlucky, but hardly the BBCs fault.

I'm going to the US in two day and I shall be using a VPN into my companies UK based network if I need to use the UK version of the site, but then again, I'm not really that bothered - its all still there to read.

Microblogging the Editorial Policy Meeting 10:47am on 28 May 2009 I love the BBC, but I really do wonder if all this Social Networking nonsense is bringing value to the licence fee payer. I think there is some validity in one of the comments above about BBC staff concentrating more on their core responsibilities and less about 'chit chat'.

Feel free to produce personal blogs and Twitter in your own time and if you can show me the value in producing the same for specific shows or individual 'personalities' then fine, but how on earth does a Tweet from one of the cleaners at BBC East improve my experience as a consumer? ;-) (Just for the record, I haven't actually seen a that, but you get my point).

I wasn't aware the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation had any obligations to offer non-licence fee paying residents of other countries their licence fee 'paid for' services ;-)

I don't want my licence fee wasted on a platform for a load of moaners, full of self importance and nothing particularly interesting or constructive to say.

Welcome to some new initials - DRM, HDCP, DTCP and AACS! 2:38pm on 15 Apr 2009 I'm usually very supportive of the BBC in it's stance towards DRM, but in response to Nick (17); do you not think it time that the Beeb started using it's standing in the broadcast world to get what it wants, rather than serving the interests of commercial entities you are far more interested in money than the content that generates it - there are plenty of content providers and programme makers out there, simply don't use the ones that are being restrictive. I'd love to be making programmes for the BBC and I'd happily provide them without DRM restriction required.... I'll e-mail you my details if you know of anyone that's interested ;-)

That aside, keep up the good work, I will eventually get a whole home HD-AV system that works without 100 workarounds.
The new web site: one week on 11:03am on 08 Apr 2009 I think the site looks great, much cleaner, less cluttered and very modern looking. I'm sure there are things that need to be added to and tinkered with, but that will come, as it has with all the other news sites across bbc.co.uk

I remember people moaning about the main bbc.co.uk homepage when it launched...from what I understand, it's as popular now as it's even been, so, for all the moaning, people stil l use it!
