I noticed you and DC didn't go for the pink shirt/ black trouser combo this week. May I ask why?! That was brilliant!

Man Utd pile on agony for Wenger 3:38pm on 06 May 2009 First of all, what a stellar performance by United as a whole. Defensively solid and lethal in attack. Ronaldo has been back to his best for the last couple of months now and hopefully he can continue this through to next season.

The question of who I would rather play hinges on last night's ridiculous dismissal of Fletcher. Had Fletch been available then I wouldn't really care but we would need his energy in midfield if it is to Barca. I would think Fergie would've played the same system he played last night with 3 high energy midfielders to combat Barca's midfield trio. As a United fan I would rather play Chelsea.

As for Arsenal and Wenger, they are one player away from challenging for titles - a central defender. I don't know who they would go for though. They are defensively frail, as shown last night, and certainly need a top class player to partner Toure there - Gallas isn't a spring chicken and has shown in the past to be... well, how should I put this... slightly unstable. Defeats like last night will serve them well and will give them invaluable experience of how not to play against top class sides. Arshavin will be available in all competitions next year and, providing he avoids serious injury, will certainly be a driving force in the Gunners' quest for trophies.

I personally think Arsenal will be a major threat next year - on all fronts.

I don't really get your idea on the points system. You say the current one should be abandoned because it doesn't reward wins enough (and quite rightly) but the 12-10-8-etc system you've brought up would surely encounter the same problems given that there are still only two points separating first and second places. I personally feel a 12-8-6-5-etc system would work best but I am not in charge :-D.

Anyway, my question concerns the possible two tier system that Mr Mosley has in mind. Do you think it is right for there to be one set of rules for teams who employ a budget cap and another for teams who decide not to?

I personally think this is untenable as Formula One is based on the idea that there is one set of rules for teams to play with. I am in favour of a budget cap, though, as I would like to see more private teams involved and the more innovative teams winning rather than sheer muscle winning the day (and I say this as a Macca fan).
The chaos and thrills of a grand prix Sunday 11:32am on 20 Apr 2009 To start off, I'm loving these blogs. You give us a really good insight into the behind the scenes stuff and how stressful (and sometimes improvised) this job is. Of course it must also be enjoyable. I also like the way you don't pretend to be an expert - you have DC there, after all.

I still feel Jonathan Legard needs to get into it a little more but I think he and Martin Brundle just need a little time to gel as it is starting to improve. I know we can press the red button for Antony Davidson but it would be good to see (well hear) him on the main coverage along with Brundle and Legard. There is a saying 'three is a crowd' but I think that it would work really well.

DC has been brilliant and he really seems to be enjoying this punditry role he has now. You could also see how happy and satisfied he was after RBR secured their first win. Gascoyne was also very good over the weekend.

Just a quick question - do you have a favourite team/driver or do you not favour any?

Hiddink's sweet smell of success 12:44pm on 09 Apr 2009 A very good point you raise about Essin. His return and Chelsea's recent upturn in form is certainly no coincidence. But you have to hand it to Hiddink, he effectively nullified the threat of Gerrard and Torres, with the exception of the first 20 minutes or so, and Chelsea have one foot and a half in the semis.

It is pretty obvious that Gerrard and Torres are the main threat for Liverpool but Barca are a completely different kettle of fish. They a threat from all over the pitch. If you try and double up on Messi that will leave somebody like Eto'o, Henry, Xavi, Iniesta, etc, in space and free to do what they want. The main weakness of Barca is their defence, especially when their full backs bomb forward, and this is something Lucky Guus will look to exploit. If it is a Chelsea-Barca semi (in all honesty, it will be) then Hiddink will have to pull a rabbit (maybe a couple) out of the hat to make the final.
Filling for Britain at storm time 10:26am on 06 Apr 2009 I was a pleasure to watch and I for one think the new regs are shaping up to improve the show - just as was planned!

Well, at least you have confidence in yourself :-D. But, yeah you have been a pleasant surprise as not many people would have known who you were - keep up the good work.

As for EJ, will he please let DC finish a sentence. DC will be in the middle of putting a good point across and Jordan will just butt in and decide 'that's enough of that'. Get him slapped into place Jake! You could threaten to wreck his drum kit if he doesn't comply!

As for the Beeb coverage as a whole, I think it has been great even though I feel Legard needs to perhaps show a little more emotion when something happens if it isn't Lewis or Jenson. Apart from that, no qualms from me.
