I'm not comparing them to Newcastle in those regards. I'm comparing last season's Newcastle with the current Atletico Madrid team as the article did. I do agree with you about Raul Garcia he seems a class act.
I haven't caught much of La Liga so far this season. How has Asenjo looked in goal for Atletico? I was impressed with his performances for Valladolid last season.

While it could be claimed that Newcastle were "too good to go down", Atletico should actually be looking to at least finish 3rd or 4th with the players the have. My main question about Atletico is why does every defender they buy turn into an absolute bombscare?

What aboout Iniesta and Xavi? I thought they had finally managed to get the credit they deserve. Obviously not. Iniesta is as dangerous to Man Utd as Messi.
Low-key start to Brazilian championship 10:46am on 11 May 2009 Adriano was excellent for Inter around 4 years ago. I remember him ripping Valencia to shreds in the Mestalla when Inter beat them 5-1. Adriano could have become a great player but he just doesn't seem to have the mentality or desire any more.
