Spring awakening 08:12am on 12 Feb 2009 Looks like you've been making good use of that R.S.P.B bird identifier link I posted. Glad you can identify all your feathered visitors. It is a real pleasure to see other creatures enjoying your garden as much as you do. I can almost forgive the pigeons nibbling my broccoli.

Don't ever give up, if gardeners weren't optimists, we'd never plant a single seed.

Just eaten my first ever crop from an outdoor tomato. My daughter planted a left over Sub Arctic Plenty in her little allotment patch, and it's put my greenhouse ones to shame.

Didn't you grow alicanté toms this year? My under glass ones are doing nicely now.

Thanks for the introduction to Open Book. Bit of a book worm as well as a garden bug myself. I hope I can download it as a podcast.

This is the first post of yours I have read. I'm sorry that so far in your comments you have been berated for not paying attention whilst driving. For allowing presenters to be not 'one of us' and for lacking direction and allowing clashing colours.

Let me be the first to tip my hat in congratulations to you finding the true pleasure that gardening brings. It's not in the produce, or the passion, or the presentations. It's always in the sharing and enjoying.

Enjoy sharing and spending time with your family. Let them be as much inspiration as our gardens are.

I spent 45 minutes filling and emptying 2 watering cans on my veg plot last night.
Soon as I finished it started to rain... What more proof do we need of a British summer arriving than that.
I love your poetic and uplifting post. Why is this season so pleasing for us? Summer just is. How nice it would be to sit on the bank of your pond at Berryfields and rest in the grace of it all. I'm deeply jealous.
