For my part, my encounters with Sid have found him a very pleasant chap, willing to allow others to disagree with him but politely declining to spoon-feed them ammunition with which to berate him - as is anyone's right including yours and mine.

Shall we agree to differ on that one? As good liberals (small l) do?

AM GLASS BOX FOR FRIDAY 1:44pm on 27 Nov 2009 Big Sister (36) and (37) : Good points, well made. After I'd hit the 'post comment' button I did wonder about exactly that.

I'd like to know how much medical/clinical backing was given in the paperwork the Home Secretary saw, to the repeated assertions by Mr McKinnon's solicitor that if he is extradited he will kill himself.

At face value, it's hard to ignore. If on the other hand the medics disagree with that opinion, no wonder we got the decision we did.

I would also like to see a financial breakdown of the £500,000 worth of 'damage' caused by the hacking activity. From the descriptions I've heard - again from Mr McKinnon's camp, it sounds highly dubious.

A more sceptical person might assert that the Pentagon is pursuing this case in order to distract the good citizens of the USA from the fact that what should have been the most secure system in the western world was hacked into with such alleged ease, whilst not even looking for 'security' secrets as such.
