Silly or not it is the question I was most often asked when I covered women's football - so thought it worthy of inclusion. Obviously you know better so good for you.

Can French claim innocence in tapping-up row? 10:12pm on 10 Sep 2009 I have read all the comments with interest and I'm mortified to think that the blog could be construed as racist.

At no point was I suggesting that being black meant you could not be French or English or any other nationality.

I'm sorry if anyone took offence, but it was a blog about the way the movement of players works. Players want to gravitate up if they can and all clubs take advantage of that if they can.
Northern Ireland looking good for 2010 qualification 7:12pm on 04 Sep 2009 Hi Pat Feet - you say "Don't you mean England and Northern Ireland frequently played alongside Scotland on the World Stage?? It was Scotland after all who qualified for 5 consecutive Finals in this golden age, not England."

Did England qualfiy for both World Cups in the 1980s? - yes
Did Scotland? yes
Did N.Ireland - yes

Thats why I called the 1980s a golden age for the home nations. The 70s were perhaps a golden age for the Scots when (or perhaps because) England were not qualifying - but hardly a golden age for the home nations.

Just to let you know that thheadlines on the blogs are not written by the authors of the articles - so please don't blame me for those from the north of Ireland being described as Celts!

Glad that's cleared that up. Let's try to keep the subject to football rather than politics/relgion/history .........

It was my grandfather who used to go to see Hull at Boothferry Park, though as both my parents are from Hull I'm sure they must have gone too. He was a big football fan though, whereas my Mum and Dad are more into Yorkshire cricket and rugby league (one Hull FC the other Hull KR!).

Though I am not from Hull I do remember going with my grandad and watching Billy Bremner play for them.

I think they will have to buy well to stay up. Long term injury means that both Gardner and Bullard are pretty much unknown quantities - can they get back to their former level?

Also have to say the old "London based media" line is very tired!! Do you think all media types are Londoners? You are very much mistaken!

I don't think many journalists would survive in the business long enough to get as far as the national press if they had narrow minded ideas based on simple geography!

Just caught me before I logged off. Normally I don't have a huge say in what games I cover. Luckily for me I rarely get a complete turkey - and there's always something to get you interested.

Yes I will be doing some Fotball League games and Carling Cup too. I have Forest v Derby on August 29th which I am really looking forward to. It's one of the few derbies I have not experienced before.

Looking forward to a new season 6:18pm on 17 Jul 2009 Thanks Chic1877 -- To be fair to Owen Coyle at St Johnstone, he took them to the semis of both the Scottish Cup and League Cup in the same season, when they were not in the SPL. I think winning at Ibrox on the way - not bad in my book.

Did similarly well in cups with Burnley last season and added success in the league too.

It will be very interesting to see if can make the step up.
