"What I want from my MP is..." 2:13pm on 16 Dec 2009 When is Victoria going to interview Adrian Van Klaveren on her programme, asking him, especially, the questions raised on the 'answering your questions about Radio Five' blog, which are still unanswered, including the money spent on her jaunt to Zimbabwe and South Africa? How about a bit of accountability?

Answering your questions about 5 live 5:38pm on 11 Dec 2009 Please can we have a response to the many points raised above about the endless discussion of ITV programmes on Radio Five Lite? It's not long since Sheila Fogerty spent a morning promoting Coronation Street for ITV, and now no programme can, apparently, last for longer than 10 minutes without mentioning the X Factor. Why? It's not news. It's not sport.

Also, please can someone explain to me how much Jamilla Knowles is paid to write blogs to which no one responds. How many have there been so far? What is the point of them? What else does she do? Please can we have somewhere to discuss Radio Five? Please?

How much longer do we have to wait for the Controller's answers to the questions that have appeared here since he last deigned to reply to us, the listeners, including the reason for sending Victoria Derbyshire to Zimbabwe (which she was clearly under-prepared and too inexperienced to undertake); the presenters' reliance on Twitter; the shambolic nature of 5 Live's blogs; and, most urgently, the continuing slide downhill into tabloid territory of what used to be a network devoted to news and sport, not to babies, music, C-list celebrities and TV programmes? Any chance of a response or two?
Answering your questions about 5 live 8:27pm on 07 Dec 2009 You're absolutely right, Zelda. This is the most confusing and badly organized collection of blogs you could hope to encounter. Like you, I came across this blog by accident. I wish the Controller of Radio Five would also stumble across it and respond to some of the points that have been made. In the meantime, perhaps Steve Bowbrick (if he is still responsible for this collection of blogs) could put a little thought into arranging them so they are easy for listeners to find their way around and deleting all those that have had no responses.
Answering your questions about 5 live 12:02pm on 04 Dec 2009 How long are we going to have to wait for the Controller of Radio Five to respond to what have been largely negative comments about (a) the waste of licence fee payers' money and (b) the quality of the reporting in terms of coverage and content arising from Victoria Derbyshire's jaunt to Zimbabwe and then South Africa? Please can we hear from Adrian Van-Klaveren himself how he justifies this expenditure? It was telling that the review in the Guardian thought that the highlight of the morning Victoria spent broadcasting from Harare were the interviews with refugees from Zimbabwe who are currently living in Britain, which could just have easily been conducted from London.

Is the fact that Steve Bowbrick elsewhere on this confusing network of blogs refers to us as 'customers' rather than listeners an indication of the contempt with which we are held by Five Live management in particular and the BBC in general?
Victoria's Week 11:42am on 02 Dec 2009 Farcical? Yes, and what a tragic waste of an opportunity. As a licence fee-payer I can scarcely believe that money has been spent on this 'jaunt' by this shallow, ill-informed presenter. This broadcast is indefensible. And what, precisely, is the point of going all the way to Zimbabwe and then interviewing refugees from that country who are currently living in Britain? And tomorrow she's off to South Africa.
Victoria's Week 5:31pm on 30 Nov 2009 I cannot speak for other critics of Victoria Derbyshire, Coreze, but my objections to her visit to Zimbabwe and South Africa arise from the facts that she is 'reporting' for the BBC from Zimbabwe instead of a better informed and more experienced politicial journalist and that she is then covering a sports event when the BBC has numerous sports commentators and reporters. The BBC is spending licence-payers' money on sending someone who is not qualified to do the job.

Victoria's Week 1:38pm on 30 Nov 2009 It's astonishing that the BBC, with its wealth of experienced journalists, should send Victoria Derbyshire to Zimbabwe. What particular insights will she bring to the economic conditions there? What especial interest in the 'power-sharing' arrangements has she ever evinced? What understanding of the redistribution of farming land will she be sharing with us. By the by, Leonard, I completely agree with you about the Observer. It seems to be dumbing down as fast as Radio Five Lite.
