Corus, jobs and electricity usage 4:41pm on 25 Jun 2009 This was an ideal time for the government to build the affordable housing that this country is crying out for. But they are home owners too and more houses would bring the value of their properties down. Can't have that can we ! Now the steel and building supply industries seem to be in dire straights. Well, if we could have built the affordable housing we are in dire need of...... and on it goes.....
Sugar and Hornby: why they're hired 2:23pm on 08 Jun 2009 Boots are doing quite well, all the doom and gloom merchants comparing it to woolies are way off the mark. They spent a lot of money re branding the old Alliance shops, also Boots opticians ( which I now think is a separate entity) bought out the rather posh Dolland & Aitchinson's. Rumour has it they are thinking of more buy outs. Hardly a business in it's final throes of life !
Brilliant Barcelona outclass Man Utd 3:30pm on 28 May 2009 Just, as a Chelsea fan,I would like to add my tuppence worth to this debate, I think United made a couple of major errors, firstly they looked (all in white)like Real Madrid, Now if you don't wish to galvanise a team, don't wear nearly the same kit as their deadliest rivals, that was not a good idea. Secondly Fergie, who is not a fool, knew Chelsea's way of playing against Barca was the correct way because we copied him from the year before. United fans were screaming at our boring tactics, but we all said. to quote Mister Punch ' that's the way to do it !' United and their fans really thought they could beat Barca in out and out attacking football, Every other supporter in the country knew, after watching them get turned over by Liverpool twice last season, they would be slaughtered if they tried it that way..and they were. Your own delusions of granduer lost you the game last night, Fergie (bless his old red nose ) got the tactics wrong.
Benitez must blank out Ferguson 12:29pm on 19 May 2009 I do think Liverpool fans have the moral high ground here, United this season have at best been dreary, Liverpool have been more entertaining, Fergie copies Jose know (who just won the league with inter in seria A )To win the league you have to have a great defence, united have that and they do get a lot of players behind the ball from midfield. So there we have it United ,dreary champions, Liverpool, entertaining runners up.
As regards to the managers... well 'there's plenty more conkers over the park' as the old saying goes. They should have a beer and shake hands.

Will Tevez row spoil Man Utd party? 11:21am on 15 May 2009 United seem to have an exceptional squad of players, that is the key to their success this season. As other teams have struggled with injuries, United seem to have a player to slip into every position.

This is not affordable to most clubs, United are the richest club in the world,so they win most things... which means 'might makes right'.

but is it sustanible in the present climate? United struck a deal for Tevez two years ago, it seems now they have gone back on that deal.

Maybe that even the richest club in the world is feeling the pressure.. lets hope so, if not football will be come incredibly boring.
Man Utd give Wenger hope 09:44am on 30 Apr 2009 I see Ronaldo's has lost none of his diving skills ! It's a shame he tries to cheat because he is such a talented player. I often wonder what Bobby Charlton (a true sportsman ) thinks of him.

The best comment of the weekend came from 'Wee Andy Townsend' on ITV. He said 'It was definitely a penalty because there was a 'slight brush against the thigh' !' That sounds like a line from erotic fiction not about a football match, God I remember when football was a man's game. I can't remember Chopper Harris, Tommy Smith, Norman Hunter or Nobby Stiles ever 'slightly brushing another players thigh !
Will QE work? 2:00pm on 11 Mar 2009 I reckon this is just one big ruse to get us into the Euro, Why can we not have a 'all or nothing' referendum on European membership, then after the out come we can all get on with our lives. Printed dough means one pound = one euro....
