The long road to Kiev 8:07pm on 07 Jul 2008 I attend the RA dinner on Saturday evening in which Geoff Thompson was the guest speaker - I have my doubts before of the guys running the game - I have now seen for myself Mr Thompson was super and a very impressive... so I now have some confidence – however I wonder how planning and building experts went…. And let’s face it the Chinese are you only really experts…. If you consider the building and generation programmes currently happening in China.

The problem is FIFA and UEFA have given these major sporting tournaments to developing nations – and while this may look good – the risk is huge and now they are panic stricken – and if I were in control England Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil and USA would all by on stand-by….

But when is the tipping point –there will be a point when Poland is to advanced – but not advanced enough!!!!!!!!

Stop now and revert to plan B - not going to happen....

Surely the 5th Official would be used - FIFA have stated the different skill sets - by have specific Asst Ref's..

And the availablity of the 5th official was demostrated last night - as 5 collected their medals last night.

Understand the points of the premier league made above...

You Are The Ref - the final 2:37pm on 29 Jun 2008 Tricky... but everyone has a bad game… just so happens this is in the final.

I do not believe the English game allows for a "video viewing" at half-time.... but a referee would sense if on or offside - but wouldn't 100% certain.

If at half time - this was impacting on my match control - then the guy would be removed...

The question is posed as the final of Euro 2008 - and the flag would be passed to the 5th official – who is a specialist Assistant referee as FIFA recognised this as being a different skill set to that of a referee.

Premier league – I remember a 4th official (senior referee one of the select guys) at Middlesboro – came on for an injured Assistant referee and he was shocking…

Pass the flag to the 5th official...

Part A...

No Goal - Sent player off - restart play with indirect free kick..

keep your hands off...

Part B...

Unlucky - the referee trys to stay away and allow the games to flow.... but sometimes this happens... but you have to allow the game to continue - for any dissent caution...

most players are just coming in from the night before....

and I personally like having my front teeth!!!!

the only thing I may do different is not send the keeper off.... it depends now clear it is... maybe a caution for a trip - ball is there to be won!!

i would still award a pen... still bounce the manager and caution the defender...

so mr murrary - you seen to what to comment on everything... like it or not - it is different doing a semi pro / pro to a sunday morning div 6 when it is windy and raining...

but all have one thing in common - i have never meet a player or supporter who knows the rules...

Firstly the referee will take no notice from comments from others...

So here is my process...

1) Remove the manager – dump him in the standings - or on Sunday the location away from pitch - report him for mis-conduct...

Ideally you should do sending off's first... but in this case I would make it clear - it is my decision making process and therefore using some management skills, I would proceed to…

2) Caution the defender for dissent or unsporting

3) Send off the goal-keeper in if my opinion he prevented a goal scoring chance

4) Award a penalty

5) Allow the substitute process to occur in accordance with law..

6) Penalty to be taken in accordance with law..

I hope this is ok SIR….

wouldn't it also be nice for you and your team made an effort to support referees' and say... we were wrong and the referee was right that would be good.

As a sports expert - do you feel a duty to correctly inform the public and to keep update.... as mis-information causes huge problems in other areas of the game!

when will you admit your wrong in law... and you say we were wrong and the ref was right...

I will be running a referees' course in sept... over 6 weeks - come and join us...

I guess you know the rules of golf better than football!

thanks for the feedback.... but you have to agree some of the so-call referees are a miles away from the correct answer....
