Don't worry, there'll be plenty of time for "Don't kids say the funniest things?" and "What did you like most about the 1980s?"

Hot on the heels of last week's "What made you smile today?" expect something about Newcastle United, too because Radio5 believes its audience can't go an hour without football or something "light" for the yummy-mummys.

Let's have no more talk at Tory party conferences and the press of poor people being described as "spongers". We now know who the real spongers and parasites are.

So, for tomorrow because after another exhausting debate about English football and British you'll want to lighten the national mood - some suggestions.

Also at the weekend Northern ireland suffered torrential rain and the worst rainfall in living memory according to some.

You did not mention, so far as i can tell, the difficulties that people faced in the face of this deluge.

Didn't the BBC get criticised recently because it ignores the regions, Wales scotland and Northern Ireland?

While this dreadful show has time for phone-ins on the things children say, there is no time for floods. Sorry there is no time for floods unless they happen in England like they did last summer.

Why is this please. Oh, and a cyclist from Northern Ireland won a silver medal. Not sure if she got a mention but then, she's not from the Home Counties so 5Live merrily ignores her.

Disgraceful.

The phone-in should (presumably) be something either topical or agenda setting. There has not been a phone-in about the conflict in Georgia which others seem to think is big news this week.

Perhaps you don't think people care or might care to comment? Perhaps children say the daftest things and 'Isn't all this rain dreadful' get big responses but it's hardly news is it? Or is it? I could say the same for the olympic coverage to some extent but that's for another day...

This show has, sadly, become Take A Break on air.

Apparently there's a war going on in Georgia with people dying and all so your own squabble and the fact that you "came eighth" of eight (last is the generally accepted term) is not important in the slightest.

God only knows the values of a "news" channel that has your hopeless performance worthy of such detailed examination when people are lying dead in the street.

Still, with 400 or so staff in China, more, I'm told, than there are athletes from Britain actually competing, it's hardly surprising the BBC feels the need to justify such extravagance.

Perhaps after the Olympics there'll be a phone-in about a significant conflict in Eastern Europe.

A dad, his son and a knife 10:42pm on 02 Jul 2008 Hello Victoria. Today's show was good and the interview with the knife dad was very interesting stuff. Clearly a very frustrated, if misguided, man. One of your strong points is, I guess, the empathy you show in stories that have a strong human interest angle. Clearly lots of listeners like your (excuse the cliche) human touch. There's definitely a need and a place for this quality in an interviewer.

I happen to like the harder, newsy stuff which sometimes you do well. I once mentioned your interview with a BBC boss woman some months back. It's up to you and your team to work out the balance over a three hour show. I just throw in my tuppence worth. Some of your defences are entirely correct. So this is me acknowledging that fact. But hey, like you need my approval.

I replied a while ago but it got deleted. I can't find the link to the 9am bit of the show so I'm not sure what your post said. (I don't check every day.) I also thanked you for your replies and said I'd probably not say much more unless it was positive.
