"What will happen to Howard?"

Howard is a clever chap and got out a few months ago if my memory serves me right.
Robinson's curse 8:00pm on 12 Sep 2008 Until recently I've been very annoyed by the constant background noise that seems to be undermining the PMs position. I had a lot of trust that he was the right man for the job.

But in recent weeks he has been handed several opportunities on a plate in which he could improve the fortunes of both the country and that of the labour party.

The latest was the much awaited energy deal to improve those less well off. Yet again he has squandered a golden chance by offering almost nothing, whereas had he been up to the job he could have shown strength and gained credibility by forcing a windfall tax and intoduced tighter regulation (price caps) on the energy companies.

I am no longer surprised that his back benchers are getting fed up, as his lack of real action in helping those in desperate need shows an almost self-destructive course for the party.

As a long time (true) Labour supporter I am now convinced that he needs to be replaced in order to protect the party, and more importantly the country, even if it means losing the next election.

This comment just gave me a smile as it immediately reminded me of David Steels infamous posturing. I can now envisage the PM at the Labour Party Conference giving his final rallying call:
Go back to your constituencies and prepare for opposition.

I personally regret to believe that the Tories are now in a position to take power in the next government, but who would really want the job in the current economic climate - I can't see either side making any headway against the global backdrop of economic doom and disaster.

Surely, if Mr Darling was given the sack or repositioned out of the cabinet in a re-shuffle, then it would be seen that the PM does not like anyone telling what may be the truth.

In such an outcome, the PM would more than likely suffer a backlash from his own party and further bad press. But, maybe that is why Mr Darling gave the interview - it may be a very shrewd move on his part.
Not quite what we thought 08:21am on 13 Aug 2008 And I always thought that the spinning globe shown on the BBC news was real - I was truly amazed when told the planet was not made of red stripes.

And of course as far as selecting people for more photogenic or attractive reasons; I guess this doesn't apply when the BBC (or any other TV channel for that matter) comes to selecting it's news and TV presenters.

China must be quite a boring place if their newly found presentation style is all you can find to complain about.

I was wondering the same but then remembered that 42 is "The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything".

Seems to indicate the governments desperation to rely on fiction - or there again perhaps Douglas Adams got it right.
