Di Stefano the greatest 7:48pm on 09 Feb 2009 Interestingly Di Stefano's goal scoring record at Real Madrid, has just been taken by Raul. Di Stefano who still plays a big role at the club, has been singing the praises of Raul for years.

I suppose it is difficult to say who is the best footballer. The way the game is played, has changed tremendously from the past. Di Stefano was a new style of player during his career, and his style obviously helped him to beat some of the more staid players of that time.

I would say there are a few people who could be looked at, as the best. It would all depend on what era you chose to look at. Watching some of the old games on other channels, makes you realise how skilful players are today. Something we seem to take for granted, all of which could be laid at the feet of the Di Stefano's and Best's.
The role of citizen journalism in modern democracy 1:09pm on 13 Nov 2008 News gathering will never be the same anymore, and the mobile phone has become a great aide for many news organisations.

My concern is how items are censored fro broadcast, also how often we see the loop film, the same shots time and time again. While the reader/presenter is speaking over the film. We are told every fifteen minutes of so what is the top news stories, and it seems that things are twice as bad as they really are. the emphasis on one or two stories, seems at time to glorify the story. Then the main people in that story and collating info on, feel the pressure to find something new or different, to keep it at the top of the news.

We have only just seen how a story in Jersey, had become much more than it truly was. Why?, because the principle figure felt the need to give info to all the reporters. Now it seems that he is the new news story.

Just now on TV a story about how Germany is now finding the financial downturn harder for them. Yesterday reporters were asking the BoH why the UK is worse than other countries, yet today it would seem all countries are in the same dilemma. yet it would seem some reporters were looking to blame MR King for not doing a good job. Once again seeking blood in a story which does not have any.
PMQs row over Baby P 12:55pm on 13 Nov 2008 I think it was quite clear that David Cameron was really effected by this tragedy. No surprise really when you consider the evidence and the amount times a social worker called on the child and mother. It may not be politically correct to lose ones cool in the house, but to see DC really showing his feelings, was good and in sharp contrast to the PM who remained his dour self.

I do not know what some people expect of any party leader, are they not also human beings with the same feelings and emotions we all have. How many people on the street have a strong opinion of Haringay social services.

My problem with the political reporter, is that they seem to think they have physic powers. No matter what a politician says, they will tell what he means. Even if he said the sky was blue, some political reporters will tell you what he/she really said, even if you heard them as well.

This constant reading of what the PM or DV says, can be misleading. The positive message given by any politician, is nearly always changed with a caveate from the reporter, who seems to know more than the politician.
Reinventing news 12:44pm on 13 Nov 2008 My concern about the way the news is given to the public, is the constant rehashing of the news every fifteen minutes of so. You could be forgiven for getting very pessimistic, due to emphasis on the bad news. During a days news, you will hear constantly how bad things are, or how bad a story is.

It is enough to make one depressed or worse. Yes things at present are not good in the financial world. unfortunately we are being told every few minutes, that people are not spending or so the city says. yet looking around my local area, it would seem people are still out buying for Christmas.

The time to really worry in my view, is when businesses start talking about 3/4 day weeks due to lack of sales. Even then it will only be for a short time, and then we will get through this time.

I also find the way some reporters feel the need to go for the jugular, looking to blame someone and ruin their career. Yet we seldom see the same when a reporter over does his/her job. Some small apology within their news columns. yet once they have had their way, the target will never fully recover. Why?, because many people will always assume there is no smoke without fire. The reporters need to temper the urge to crash someones career, because it is usually the family who loose out.
