Premier League "Team of the Noughties" 3:56pm on 30 Dec 2009 Posh fan in Peace.. but :

Stevie G ??? I dont quite get the argument for his inclusion in Premier League "Team of the Noughties" by saying "won an FA Cup Final and the Champions League on his own" , they are not the Premier league !!!!! He is a player who can raise his game on the big occasion but goes missing often on the smaller ones.....

Lampards contribution have won Chelsea the Premier League whereas Gerrards have not.

Who is the better player is a different argument , but for me, Lampard has had a much more improtant impact on the Premier League.

Rest of The team -

Keepers - fair enough
Defence - Good points
Giggs, Shearer , Viera - not as prominent in the Noughties as many others.....lots of more suitable people mentioned by others.

Dunces nixing Mayweather-Pacquiao 09:07am on 24 Dec 2009 I am no biologist, but these guys are walking a physical tight-rope in the lead up to a fight. To insist on them having to give blood at any given point would, i imagine, severely hamper a fighters preparations.

I Mayweather wanted to blur the image of both himself, his opponent and boxing he has done a good job. He should not have taken the fight !!!
Finchem stands up for Woods 2:07pm on 21 Dec 2009 About the drugs thingy, arn't the doctors who usually get dragged into these problems usually one which are at the very top of the sports science pyramid ? Just because Tiger worked with the guy doesnt mean he is a cheat. The usual proceedure should be followed , no more, no less.

Yes , it was foolish and yes you will lose sponsors who buy in to the whole package that is Tiger. But there is absolutly no reason why he should be punished by the golfing authorities for having an affair(s) any more than the next golfer just because he sells papers. It is his life and he has paid the price...
No spare change for Sporting Chance 1:38pm on 21 Dec 2009 This, in the context of the article shows how the FA are total idiots. A charity that has a track record of helping many players is seemingly hung out to dry for an amount of money that Fabio probably wouldnt get out of bed for ! I think it should be something the PFA looks at paying directly out of their own coffers.

The FA have started a vicious circle for themselves as the good managers know that they can take advantage of the money in the English game and demand silly money.......

Beyonce (and her people) show that you dont need to warble over/ruin a classic to get radio play. Writting is good, catch song is the best start !!! no real need for the vocal gymnastics of LL (which are quite frankly terrible), and imo AB is a poor mans LL.................

Thanks for the interesting artical. Me, as a Posh fan, would be interested in hearing any interesting stories you have about your time there........

It is also interesting you mentioned interchangable formations being on your managers mind at the moment. I saw an interview with Chris Coleman a few months ago where he stated this was his outlook on football but unfortunatly not enough of his players (at the time) understood postioning and tactics to do it succesfully. How much do you contentrate on specific skills of your position and how much is generic footballing skills (which seem to be reducing in this country) ?

After watching the very good BBC documentary 'Sprint' and the subsequent Olympics what seemed apparent to me was the huge gulf in talent between our 100m sprinters and the best in the world......This is the flagship event of the games and we have young lads who are spending training time worrying about paying there bills.......this can be motivating, but i think counter productive....

Get the best kids in (which i belive they do) and back them to the hilt !!!!

P.s. Can he teach the sprinters how to pass the baton.
No shame to European defeat 3:50pm on 22 Sep 2008 Great artical, it is my firm belief that the team could hve come out in any order yesterday and we would have been beaten.

It does annoy me that people in this country (not so much journalists) insist on disliking our single-minded and sometimes cocky sportspeople eg Faldo, Murrey, Rocket Ronnie (and to some extent Poulter), WHEN THEY DONT WIN.

We seem to want our sports stars to all be likeable Hatton types or Henman niceguys.

Not all winners are nice guys, but it is that, in many cases, that puts them up there with the best.
