If we loose the BBC in its present format, we're in trouble. So much of commercial broadcasting is so rubbish, and no-one bothers with impartial and in depth news, public service broadcasting, football, cricket.

oh, and let's not forget Dr Who.

School admissions policy. 5:24pm on 03 Nov 2008 this is something that has been going on for a long time and is not surprising. Schools have been very cunning at disguising their bending and breaking of the rules.

the problem is a desire to cater to middle-class voters who are scared that poorer children will get in the way of their children's education, and to an extent they are right.
to me, this is a symptom of the problems with the schools system, not a cause.

a radical and expensive LONG-TERM reform programme is what's needed, but being radical, expensive and long-term, there's not much interest

Is Michael on his cycle? 9:36pm on 06 Oct 2008 I'm a huge fan of Owen. I think his sort of player is totally under-rated. Look at Arsenal, great floaty sexy football, pass it round 2000 times, then loose to Fulham and Hull. Owen puts the ball in the goal, which is what the game is about.

on a slightly deeper tactical level, he stretches play, has as good off-the-ball movement as anyone you'll see and solves the problem of all the England players running towards the ball like kids in a play ground.

Owen is a star, simple as. He'll be back, class always shows through in the end
