If he has committed a criminal offence, as most of the respondents to your blog seem to think, then let him be prosecuted. If not, can we have less of the hypocritical sanctimony? Who here has never had work done for cash, never pinched so much as a pencil from work, never had a hooky dvd or an illegal download? Let he who is without sin cast the first stone springs to mind. There is NOTHING more nauseating than the sight and sound of the "great" British public, and its media, in full puritanical flow.

Tories bash the rich 2:27pm on 06 Oct 2009 The Stock market took more off my pension in one day than G.Brown's so called pension raid took in 10 years. Then I had a decent pension, now I have to keep working!
As for the salary and pension controls, when you are heir to a substantial fortune (Osborne) and report to a boss (Cameron) worth an estimated £30m, who needs to worry about a salary or pension!
The old saying about peanuts and monkeys springs to mind-do we really want the less able, or only the well heeled, in charge of our public services? Isn't it the case that the P.M's salary is pathetically low, whomsoever occupies the post, or again is it just for the well heeled?
Map of the Week: Road crash victims 11:08am on 28 Jul 2009 If a soldier dies in Afghanistan, his death will make the main news headlines, intoned sonorously by the presenter. If he dies in a road accident whilst on leave from Afghanistan, the chances are it will only make the inside page of the local rag. Why, one wonders, do we differentiate so? In both cases, the risks were known and accepted by the victim, so why do we as outsiders always want to stop others taking risks? Is it not the case that, especially for young people, risk taking is an essential part of life? Block it off, and they will find some other way to test themselves, such as tombstoning or whatever. If road deaths are to be prevented, then stop all traffic- clearly unacceptable. Therefore, accept road deaths as part of our freedoms, even though they are tragic for the victims families. This constant desire to prevent us all from harm, whatever the cost, is corrosive to a nations character. Sounds very right wing, I know, and I'm not, but I am really concerned about about our attempts to have a risk free society.
The shrinking economy 1:16pm on 24 Jul 2009 The figures more or less chime with our experience as a small engineering company. We, along with many others, were counting clouds for something to do up until into June. Then, oh boy! June was our best month this year and July has simply gone manic. And it's not just us-others in our field, though not all, are also very busy. Maybe it's a flash in the pan, but could it just be the turn around? After all, it's small businesses like ours that are the best barometer of UK plc. I certainly hope so. It'll certainly make a change from the beeb harping on about swine flu! Will it cover a recovery as screamingly as it did the recession? I doubt it- good news doesn't sell does it?

Going to the country 4:08pm on 21 May 2009 One good thing about calling an election is that it would force the Tories to state exactly what their economic policy would be. No longer could it just be "do down Gordon Brown, but don't frighten the voters with what we intend". Osborne quickly picks up on the IMF concerns re Britains long term debt and its reduction, but seems strangely silent about the praise it gives to Darling/Browns' measures to tackle the credit crunch in the first place. Its time the Tories came clean, and not just in the House!
Indebted Britain 1:15pm on 21 May 2009 What, pray, has Standard and Poor done to improve its own performance?
We need to know before we place any credence on their comments. Unless of course, you're a Tory, in which case any bad things anyone says will be lapped up and regurgitated ad nauseam.
Back-slapping 3:46pm on 20 May 2009 Back to petty points scoring then! When will Cameron et al grow up and resist the temptation to jump on every passing band wagon. Talk about shameless opportunism! Given that Tory M.P's are as deeply involved in the present expenses fiasco as the others, re-electing them with a massive majority would simply add more to the trough. An election now is NOT what is required. What is needed is immediate reform of how M.P's behave and how they are to be properly paid and re-imbursed for their necessary expenses, without the distraction of electioneering. Once the stable has been cleaned, then by all means have an election.
Or is Cameron trying to muddy the waters? Is there something really nasty in the Tory woodwork?
