Quartet face relegation nail-biter 3:46pm on 22 May 2009 As a Liverpool fan i can still easily say that Manchester United have earned the right to put out whatever team they like. Look after number one before the biggest one off game of their season; makes sense to me.

That said, the same reason they won the league title will be the same reason that they probably beat Hull on sunday and that is, of course, the sheer depth of quality they possess. Do you think the Anderson's and Nani's a such will go out and show even a hint that they will want to lose.
For me Newcastle playing away from home is the reason they will stay up, being away from 50000 (admittedly passionate and very good) fans may help them just get their head down and play the football that will beat an already on holiday Aston Villa side.
Sunderland and Newcastle to stay up in my opinion.

I don't see why anybody is saying that attention would go down significantly. What attention? Even with the OF not many people seem to care majorly about our leagues. I would be delighted to see the ugly sisters go down south and hopefully during away games for the OF some fans would watch their local team. This could result in bigger crowds for SPL sides and even SFL teams in need of cash too. This, in optimistic principle, could regain their passion for the local team and encourage further attendance.
Other possibilities for the improvements are the fact that the OF will not cherry pick the best of our talent because they will quite simply not be good enough for the EPL. This allows players similar to those that have previously left the "smaller clubs" (as a hibs fan i have countless examples) to hone their skills and possibly increase our standard of football. In time, the media attention will realise that we are not a 2 team league and the very gradual progress can bring us to the league we are now.

Loosely related to your blog is the idea of Team GB. How appropriate that the GB and Irish Lions have just been selected today (poor show from the Scots btw) and yet there is no chance that the home nations will be merged in Union. Take a note football.
Ferguson the winner in CL draw 11:55am on 21 Mar 2009 You will find very few Liverpool fans actually fear Chelsea but they are just sick of playing them. Who here would genuinely happy being pitted against the same team at some stage for 5 years in a row!
As for the potential semi final i think it is appropriate to don the popular football cliché of "you have to play the best teams some time" and in all honesty I fancy us to take these teams over two legs rather than in a one off so it is possibly the better scenario.
England 2018: All but certain 11:19am on 21 Mar 2009 Like "theoutlaw" i am also Scottish and i can comfortably say my only concern with a potential team GB is whether or not the individual FA's will stay as such after the olympic games.
More on topic, though, I was interested by the basic argument of "let someone else have a shot" as this would only be a good idea if some better countries were putting in bids. As harsh as it sounds I just don't believe that either of them have the balance. China has the population and obviously the power to put on a show but as a footballing nation they are anything but world famous. England has the appeal, the standard of football and the stadia. That being said it is clear that they draw a lot of flak from other nations for whatever reason that is.
On the point of Ibrox, Celtic Park etc being used i genuinely can't see them being needed but the Scottish support is surely beneficial for any future bids.

Defending The Delapidator 2:27pm on 03 Nov 2008 Number 1 - Stoke City's pitch is one of the narrowest in the league. Pulis admitted this was to help the throw in situation. Honestly though i think you are clutching at straws (Robbo). Perhaps if 75% of their goals were from this then it would justify your comments but Stoke have scored some classy goals this season to. Fair play to them i say.
