Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Sir Alex shake Rafa's hand both times Liverpool beat us this season? Congratulating the winning manager is the end of season handshake.

No, domestically, we're now better than Liverpool, and whichway you want to look at it. 18 titles each, but we've more second place, and more FA Cups. Bring in the two lesser titles (League Cup and Community Shield), United are still in front of Liverpool.

As for the "United are obsessed with Liverpool" stuff, it works both ways. All we hear from Liverpool fans is how you've got 5 European Cups, to our 3. We're hearing it more now after we got our third. Just like we kept hearing about how we were never going to get to 18 titles...until we did.

People buying into Rafa saying that the best team didn't win the league, accusing the Beeb of being pro Man Utd (funny, I've read the Beeb are pro Liverpool, pro Chelsea, and pro Arsenal too), and that Ferguson wouldn't be gracious if he had lost.
The best team always win the league, simple as. Whether it be United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, or York City!
I thought the article was well written and balanced. It praised both United and Liverpool, and was a fair assessment of the season.
As for Ferguson being a bad loser, I think there's plenty of evidence that he always gives his congratulations to winning managers at the end of the season, no matter how bitter the season had been. There's a level of expectation among fans that, at the end of the season, everyone shakes hands, and at least pretend to have respect for the victor, whoever it may be. It's a shame for Liverpool fans that Benitez hasn't done that, as they have been far more gracious in defeat than their manager has.

My alternative review of the season 12:53pm on 15 May 2009 Great blog Jacqui, I always enjoy the more lighthearted look back on the season. Good shout for Steve Bruce, top man doing a top job.
As far as the Donesk comment, I know humour doesn't always translate well over the internet, but some people on here need their funny bone checked.

Brave Shearer gives Newcastle hope 1:48pm on 12 May 2009 So odd to see all this hatred towards Newcastle and Shearer. I'm not particularly a fan of the Toon Army, but if they stay up, good job. Reading some of the comments on here, you'd think Geordies have been up and down the country killing all in their path! Wish some of the football "fans" on here would grow up just a little.

Isn't that the point? When did Chelsea play on the counter and try to score? They stuffed men behind the ball, kicked Barca off the pitched, and waited until Barca's defence made a mistake. If the two games Hiddink played in his head were as dull as that, he must have done it to put himself to sleep (the Chelsea win he was on about came to him in his dreams :) )

Chelsea played worse than United did there last season, and I thought that would have been almost impossible. But while United looked to sneak a goal from somewhere, it was as if Chelsea only wanted a draw.
If the 4-4 that Liverpool and Chelsea played out was an advert for the brillience of the premiership, then yesterday was a warning to stay away from England if you want to see the beautiful game.

FIFAPro is indeed planning to launch a legal campaign against the Whereabouts scheme on the grounds of data protection and employment law, and Sporta, the Belgian sports union, have argued that the system violates Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

I do see your point, especially when it comes to FIFA (I'm far from their biggest fan), but I think it is worth pointing out that it's not just football being difficult over WADA's proposals, as the Tennis "Stars" have been major trouble makers, especially when it comes to whereabouts.
Also, I felt it worth pointing out to people who don't know that much about WADA, that they can be...stubbon, to say the least. I think it's fair to say a lot of this stems from Dick Pound's leadership. I got interested in WADA watching Ice Hockey, when, in November 2005, Pound said, “you wouldn’t be far wrong if you said a third of hockey players are gaining some pharmaceutical assistance." He later admited that he completely invented the figure, and that's part of my problem with WADA, the guilty till proven innocent culture. I'm sure that if I was an elite Athlete, it would infuriate me!
But I do understand your criticisms of FIFA, even if I do think it might have been slightly harsh not to mention some of the other trouble WADA are both facing and creating.
