2008: The Brown rollercoaster 12:09pm on 20 Dec 2008 Nick

Those of us that have been on a rollercoaster and I must admit was a number of years ago, remember two things

1. The abrupt halt it comes to and all change.

2. The feeling of sickness after you get off.

So yes it is a great way to describe Flash Brown's year, leaving us all feeling sick and the country coming to a halt.

Its worth looking back at earlier blogs of the year and surprise surprise some of Nicks contributors were predicting, yet Flash Brown was like the king in the pantomime, believed they had spun him some new clothes.

Not a pretty sight.

Off to take a holiday so Merry Christmas and may 2009 be a lot better for us all.

After today's performance lecturing OPEC on oil fluctuations or stability, how I agree with the head of OPEC, get your house in order first. If my memory serves me right it was only months ago Brown was telling OPEC to bring prices down now they are down he wants stability. If we had a pound that was were it was 6 months ago petrol would be 70p. With the highest fuel tax in Europe .

So Mr Brown take heed from OPEC and you might just might be able to save the world sorry your seat.
Tensions arise over Zimbabwe crisis 08:43am on 12 Dec 2008 Whilst I disagree with what freecornwall 23 has to say in other threads, I do think what is saying has merit.

It is an African problem and must be solved by African politicians. We have enough enemies and are not the world's policeman, mind you Flash Gordon in his mission might think so.

The time has come for us to put up the shutters to immigration from whatever country. Give an amnesty to all the illegal immigrants and close the doors.

The first rule of survival is don't put yourself in a position of danger to endanger either yourself or others. We are fighting an economic battle and my belief is unemployment will be at 3 million some time next year and borrowing vast amounts to survive.

Zimbabwe, we have to be humane and do what we can to help the people and aid must be given when they and Africa asks.

Are we in danger of letting Nero fiddle while we all all go down the pan.

After reading about Mandy, maybe Brown should beware the Ides of March. Here we have some on not elected and not accountable to the electorate, dictating the road out of the mess his old enemy got us into. Talk about Laural and Hardy "that another fine mess you've got us into"

Is this part of the master plan, parity with the euro.

David Davies made a stance over 42 day detention lets hope there is courage in the House to ensure privilege is not abused and any investigation or review to procedures of our MPs . Knowing whats going on in the civil service, police, and security is not only a right for our MPs but a duty.

Interesting in the News Bulletin Council Tax hopes to be around 5% increase next year. Inflation according to pundits could be max 2% or deflation. Is the government going to cut the support grant to councils to make up some of the BBH and let us belive its the local council.

At least in Thailand the people have protested to get the government out. What would our army do in the same situation

Sorry, at least with Tony Blair you got smoke and mirrors. With Brown and Darling it's a downright con trick that our children and grandchildren will be paying for.

As a pensioner yes the increase is worth while but to take it back by a .4% increase in personal allowance. Pensioners I urge you write to you MP's we deserve better than to be conned.
Labour to end top rate tax pledge 08:30am on 24 Nov 2008 Today I received a mail shot from a so called respectiable loan company offering to lend me £300.00 and with repayments of £10.00 per week sounds good, small print repayment over next 12 months APR 89%.
not so good.

Replace £300.00 with £100,000,000,000. change the time scale with nothing to repay in the first 18 months then only £20 billion extra over your normal payments over the next ten years. Looks like the treasury is being run by the marketing dept of a well known furniture store.
