Robbo's 2009 predictions (part 2) 12:14pm on 01 Jan 2009 Great blog yet again, my only gripe is the fact that in your previous blog you stated that Manchester City were relegated. Therefore how can Stoke be playing them? You may have meant that it was a Carling Cup match though. Sorry for the little moan there, an otherwise excellent blog.
Wenger wise to appoint Fabregas 9:35pm on 24 Nov 2008 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assumed Phil was talking about managers who would realistically replace Wenger. I think all the "Wenger out" talk is rot. What could be an idea though is for Wenger to perhaps bring Martin Keown for a week or so to inject some fighting spirit into the side.
Kissing in the wind 3:00pm on 30 Oct 2008 I remember Reyes kissing his Arsenal badge in a game in the 2004/05 season, just weeks after being infamously duped into admitting he wanted to leave for Real Madrid in a radio show. In this case, I believe his badge kissing was to almost reassure the Arsenal faithful he was staying put, but probably just to get them off his back for a while.
Capello may regret Owen exclusion 4:48pm on 01 Sep 2008 What is the point of Heskey without Owen? They combine brilliantly, and appear to be England's best strike partnership. In my opinion, England have to change their game to accommodate Rooney, and it doesn't work. Rooney is world class, but to be frank, hasn't played well for England for over four years. England played their best football in recent times in the 3-0 wins over Israel and Russia; when Rooney, Lampard and Beckham did not play. Capello continues to baffle me with his continuing inclusion of Beckham, which surely must come to an end. If we lose in Zagreb, I will seriously question Capello's credentials as England manager. I would back this side to get us to the World Cup:

Ferguson set to solve striking dilemma 8:00pm on 10 Aug 2008 I can't see Henry signing for United for numerous reasons. Firstly, would Ferguson shell out £20m on a soon to be 31 year old who seems past his best? Ferguson witnessed this first-hand during United's Champions League semi-final clashes with Barcelona last season. Besides, Barcelona want Samuel Eto'o out, and insist that Henry is very much part of their plans for the coming season. I can't see them letting him go. Furthermore, if he were to leave for Old Trafford, would he even be guaranteed a starting place? When Rooney and Tevez are both fit, surely Ferguson would opt for them instead. Finally, I don't think Henry would want the move. He is an Arsenal man through and through, and reiterated this in January when linked with Newcastle, stating that if he were ever to move back to England, an Arsenal return would be his only option.

United will probably get Berbatov, but whatever happened to Manucho?

Spain are the complete package 12:14pm on 15 Jun 2008 Czech Republic should beat Turkey in normal time, a tight 2-1 win I'd think. Germany will thrash Austria and Croatia will beat Poland so the Croats will progress as group winners. The Dutch will probably beat Romania 2-0, and I'd fancy France to beat Italy 2-1 or 2-0. Italy, and their defence especially, look very poor. France's defence was most of the time breached by Holland because defenders were put forward to attack, as the French were chasing the game. Henry and Ribery could wreak havoc. Although Raymond Domenech has come under scrutiny for France's results, he should topple Roberto Donadoni, who from what I've seen looks out of his depth. In the final group, Spain will beat Greece to win the group, and I think Sweden will narrowly beat Russia. So my remaining group predictions are:
