I just recommended THREE of my clients go into liquidation this week.

All micro business employing 2-5 people.

Too many IT toys taking too long to load, and it provides less information "at a glance" than before as the hourly forecasts have been lost in favour of only 4 "snap shots"

One glaring issue is the default chart (once it loads) is on such a small scale you cant see what is coming your way which is rather essential in terms of weather.

ECB was given Stanford warning 7:11pm on 24 Feb 2009 If you had read the reports in Private Eye you would have known about these matters several years ago, not days or wrrks.

I don't have the relevant issue to hand but there have been stories for years about Mr S, and they did a nice recap just before the million dollar match taking the rise out of the ECB.

PE may be a greasy little publication but it does get it right 9 times out of 10.

The lack of financial background is showing through yet again.

The banks will have a bad year in 2007 and 2008 as they have shoved all the losses they possibly can into them. 2009 and beyond they will all make an absolute killing, and have the bonuses to match.

Barclay's bank is woefully undervalued.

Its a bonanza if you got in at the bottom.
Snow and the Weather Centre 09:28am on 04 Feb 2009 This countries reaction to a little bit of snow is quite frankly pathetic.

How about all these schools open back up (the mums with 4 wheel drive cars should be able to deliver their little darlings safely, and I am sure they can pop round to the ones without 4 wheel drives who are unable to walk and look smug at the fact they have a 4 wheel drive) and have a lesson in how to clear snow?

I appear to be the only person in my street to have bothered to clear the public path outside my house. Presumably everyone else is just watching out of the window incase somone falls over so they can get it on TV to prove how bad it is.
Are they connected? 1:18pm on 03 Feb 2009 Your thought processes are exactly those I have unfortunately come to expect from journalists - inventing causal links where there are none proven to be true.

Of course 95% of your readers dismiss such tosh out of hand and read the next thing, but the 5% who don't can easily be mislead and set of a chain of reactions based on the assumption that the first lazy story was correct.

Summer just wont be quite the same without you on the radio, you where a part of many many peoples lives.

I hope your family and friends will be at least in a small way consoled by the very large contribution you have made to radio broadcasting during your life.
BBC and the Gaza appeal 2:06pm on 26 Jan 2009 Quite clever this actually.

Probably more publicity for the Gaza appeal than there would have been by simply broadcasting it whilst at the same time being able to claim independance.
Young and unemployed 5:31pm on 19 Dec 2008 I was talking to my painter and decorator recently who simply cannot get a trainee.

All he wants is someone to train up. He accepts that they might even be bone idle half the time but he needs someone to fetch and carry, run to the shop for more paint and get stuck in with the roller once in a while.

Every single young person he has approached has turned their nose up at his job. He was offering £200 a week with a day in college, so that’s £50 per day to start with, above minimum wage, with training.

One of the lads he approached (via their mother exasperated by the boy lounging around the house all day) told him he wanted £200 a DAY! He only charges £125 himself and has been doing it for 20 years.

Expectations are just too high. I also feel very sorry for all the "middle achievers" at second rate universities who have been led down the garden path about what a degree means. As an employer myself when looking at the untrained end of the market you tend to either want a graduate from a good institution who has the ability to do well and progress into senior management, or you want someone at 18 who isn't too full of themselves who can be molded in the right direction. Those falling in the middle tend to think they are brighter than they really are and somehow "deserve" a senior role. This is rather dangerous in the workplace, yet as a country we are churning out these people by the thousand and most end up resentful in roles they could have done at 18 – and 3 or 4 years behind people who went in at this point.

Its a very sorry position to be in, and when I am asked to advise youngsters I often tell them to view university as an extension of their youth unless they are able to get into a high ranked institution and get a 2:1.

its coming to something when it takes your kids headmaster to point out the blindingly obvious.

If you spend what you don't have it all ends in tears.

The problem with UK PLC is the phenomenal waste of public money on silly projects, much of which ends up in the hands of 'consultants' and others but utterly fails to be spent on the actual project!

I mean why are they knocking down perfectly good school buildings just because the schools are 'underperforming'?

If a fraction of the money on teaching the kids would get a far better education than sitting them in a new building at vast expense with the same old staff.......
