Farewell to a brilliant season - and roll on 2010 6:17pm on 01 Nov 2009 Well done to all the Beeb throughout this years F1!

I distinctly remember the main thing that was worrying a lot when the BBC got the F1 back was if they were going to keep The Chain as the theme. Yes. Therefore, fantastic.

The coverage was fantastic. EJ and his crazy dress sense. DC and his sanity. Jakeys shirts accompanying EJ's clothes.

But most of all, Brundle annoying the Sky woman a lot! Fantastic grid walks, especially when he gets corporate interviews from some, crazy characters, and the pushing in - fantastic! That man deserves a medal for his persistence.

Jakey has made the coverage amazing. It also helps that he is an outside, effectively, bridging the gap between me (a driver who likes f1) and the racers and teams. Also, full praise to JH, DC and EJ keeping everyone onboard at Brazil quali, when they were on Live TV with no defined ending point, and had to keep it interesting, knowing they could be on air for ages! Fantastic coverage this year, it'll be interesting to see how you can make it better next year!

To all the team, the camera crew, the presenters, the producers, the editors, the assistants, JH, EJ, DC, JL, and MB, and of course the f1 teams themselves, well done and thanks for a fantastic year!
Some big changes to the 5 live schedule 12:11pm on 20 Oct 2009 It looks like a fantastic schedule. As someone who regularly listens to Bacon in the evenings, I know he can develop a family within an audience, give them something special, as well as deliver outstanding 5live content. Essentially, He's the middle ground, between producers and listeners, bringing both to each other. And that will work much better in daytime.

Tony Livesey is a fantastic stand in for Noland and also on breakfast - very excited to have him on the schedule permanently.

Simpler message 8:23pm on 26 Nov 2008 Betting on stuff that isn't there, trading in millions of pounds (or dollars, or whatever) in currency and stock every day, meaningless numbers bandied around every day on whos bailing out who...

As an onlooker, i have no idea what the stock exchange means really. I don't know if 4203 points, down 0.2% is good or bad. I can't comprehend that sort of money - the most i've ever seen is when they count the money in the bank with that note counter.

two totally different worlds - us and them. Or us v's them. But the message is simple, and works well for both sides. Don't spend more than you need to, and Don't spend what you don't have.

I think the BBC have done a good job of reporting on whats left of the financial world. However, the message, if indeed its right and proper for the BBC to imply a message in its impartial news broadcasts, should be don't live beyond your means. Don't drive a supercar if all you can afford is a supermini.
Broadcasting live 02:04am on 19 Nov 2008 Whilst it's nice to have a calm, ordered programme, Live inserts into a news programme can, and do, work very well... when done properly.

Admittedly, this is what PM would do right before the 1800, and Today, and all the others, but if it works well to explain a story thats late breaking, it shouldnt be frowned upon.

The only other way to have it would correspondents filing live via satellite or whatever they use, but just before the programme goes on air.

As far as i'm concerned, with the BBC, everything will have been checked and double checked against BBC sources and known facts, and have sound legal clearence before being broadcast, and the reporters should know to double check everything. This makes a live insert a very valuable way of imparting a story to the waiting public.

I'm all for them. Pre recorded packages as well, but a live insert to update the latest facts of the story... but with one condition. Only when necessary... a court case that was adjourned at 12md does not require one, whereas a important statement or meeting in government would.
"Learning To Talk": Ask A Question 9:01pm on 09 Jul 2008 The BBC Editors blog, i find, has sometimes strayed into the realms of defending output, such as the recent bulldozer incident with the shooting of the person involved.

However, on balance, i believe a blog is the best way to "defend" or "justify" the actions of the BBC in a way that doesnt infringe on actual programming time.

Also, it gives a good insight into BBC editorial policy in action, in those grey areas where it might be ok and it might not be ok to show something. It shows what the BBC editors are thinking, and should be widely encouraged, seeing as they are accountable to the license fee paying public.

The Editors blog is one of the best blogs on the BBC.

As far as blogs being ghost written - no. There is no conceivable way to ghost write a blog. Maybe you could phone a blog into an office if you can't get to a computer, but only if it is written word for word. But with email on phones, internet cafes, wifi, mobile internet, etc, there is no excuse to leave a blog to be ghost written. It is the personal thoughts of the writer that matter, not the conservative views of a professional writer/spin doctor type person.

"Hang on....that doesn't make sense!!!" 1:45pm on 06 Jun 2008 I'm under the impression that if you pay Sirius, you pay for the Audio content from them and not the license fee which we pay for to access everything made.

And, its also copyright restrictions and whatnot, making it near on impossible to show copyrighted material without charging or using a hefty chunk of money to make it available for free.

I don't really have any questions for boyzone, but i would like to suggest something for video. Film the team coming in, getting ready for the show, and what they do behind the scenes etc, at half 5, 6am, and let us see what we don't normally get to see!

And, stream the Chris Moyles show on BBC three live!

Olympic viewing 12:34pm on 20 May 2008 I personally think its a great idea - if only we could a BBC sport channel full time, to compete with Sky Sports, and complement the BBC News Channel.
