Wild about 'Arry 09:34am on 15 Nov 2008 A lot of people on here have defended Drogba in some way which I find a curious view. An unknown fan launched a coin and Drogba threw it back in an arbitrary fashion. Provocation is no excuse for lashing out in this fashion and his wages are not really relevant.

When Cantona (I'm not a Utd fan) went after a particularly abusive fan he was given a lengthy ban and there is no doubt that he got the right guy. Drogba could have hit anybody, children included, with a coin that could have caused a nasty injury requiring a couple of stitches. A 3 match ban? Sorry but that would be laughable. Let the fool sit out the rest of the season and ban the fan for life. What kind of world is it if Mr Drogba can escape appropriate punishment because he is a footballer by profession?

The real criminals in the panto were the Arsenal defenders who apparently had cement in their boots!
A funny old game... 3:57pm on 05 Sep 2008 Hi Alex, Whilst we all enjoy the existing content, I would like to see more serious in depth analysis, especially of international opponents. There were many such comments after Chick Young's last submission, and Phil McNulty took a bit of stick as well.
When we're playing smaller nations there are plenty of readers who appreciate articles like the one that has been added today on Macedonia.
In general though, I think you're running the most comprehensive service on the web. Keep up the good work.
A nation holds its breath... 11:46am on 03 Sep 2008 Hi all, English fan in peace here. I hear what you're all saying about the depth of chick's analysis. For what it's worth, here's mine. Macedonia tend to play a short passing game with one forward, playing 4-5-1 in defensive position moving to 4-3-3 in attacking positions. They tend to counter attack quickly and Scotland's defensive midfielders will need to be quick to close down runners as their one and two touch passing is dangerous. England have also found them to be dangerous from set plays in the past.
I am not so sure about Iceland. They do of course have Gudjohnsen who is adept at making space for himself and others and will need to be tightly marked to control his influence on the game.
Honestly, I think that like England, you are best suited to playing a direct game and using the wide areas of the pitch to try and pull both opponents defensive players out of position. Perhaps with McFadden playing off of a strong target man you will succeed in creating enough to score goals. Having seen how the team played in the 08 campaign, I think that you have every chance of qualifying.
