It's never just 'bad news' first 6:52pm on 21 Feb 2009 The views of the BBC and most other news organisations on this are remarkably inconsistent. If you counted up all the headline bad news stories and all the headline good news stories you'd over any period you'd find that the bad news vastly outnumbers the good news. If this were a true reflection of life today then this would essentially mean that that everything is slowly getting worse. I don't believe that is the case. The problem is that we have fallen into a habit of habitual criticism of most things that go on. You only have to see any interview on Newsnight or most news programmes to see that the whole culture is based on finding fault instead of praising the good. The is not healthy for society, and in direct contradiction (thankfully) to how were are encouraged to teach children. We all need to focus on growing the good rather than obsess on the "bad".
BBC News and disabled audiences 6:32pm on 19 Feb 2009 This may be un-PC but given that television is a visual/audio interface and radio is a purely audio interface surely it must be the case that blind/visually impared people will listen to the radio? Television will become unworkable if every visual activity has to described by the narrator. I also agree with those who disagree with the % of disabled people in the country. These numbers must have been produced by the same people who fill-up supermarket car-parks with disabled spaces of which usually 2 or 3 are occupied while everyone else has to further to carry their bags.
Hey Microsoft, Yahoo thinks you should buy it 4:34pm on 06 Nov 2008 Apple will continue to be a niche player in the OS market whilst it's goods are overpriced, but then that provides the very niche status that Apple fills. If Apple Macs became mainstream it would detract from their brand! As for Yahoo they made big mistake not accepting the earlier MS offer. The best bet for Yang is to get MS back to the table and head up their web services division as part of the deal.
